Idea for Friend List/Chat

I think it would be a good idea if you could make yourself invisible to some of your friends, not all of your friends, just some. Sometimes, I just don't feel like being bothered by certain people and, yet, I wouldn't want to just have to ignore them and have to re-add them to my friends list later if I wanted to talk to them again. It would be nice to just be able to play peacefully as well sometimes. Something that didn't give away the fact that I was or was not in game. You should also be able to control which of your friends you want to allow the ability to see you and who does not get the ability to see you.

I was just wanting to open this topic to discussion and find out what the community thinks about this "privacy" issue. It's not really a big deal. I just don't like the idea of upsetting someone just because I wish to play by myself and/or relax sometimes. I just think it would be easier to just not "appear" online sometimes.

What if there was an option to appear offline while still being able to use friend chat? Like if a conversation is being initiated by you, only the people in the conversation can friend chat with you; your other friends cannot initiate a convo or see you as online.

That would be easier to implement and more functional.

That could work. But I was thinking of something like that offline thing, but also, you could choose who you wanted to see you online or not. Maybe, I would like my personal friends to see me. But, I don't always feel like talking to a few people from my "General" tab. Something more specific to X summoner that could be disabled like a temporary "ignore."

Imagine that you just played a game with summoner X and they play terribly so they cost you the game. They're new to the game so you can't really blame them. So, you told them that you just wanna take a break from the game for a while, but in truth, you just don't wanna play a terrible game with summoner X until you feel you released some stress and cleared your head. So you block them. I don't know. Just thinking about a little more chat control, but offline mode does work.

It may be harder to implement a temporary ignore/offline/block feature, but anything can be done with enough motivation and time. Besides, knowing Riot, if they do something they'll do it right. I've always been happy with the extra mile they put into the "shiny" new things they release.
