I'm surprised no one on GD has really made a post about items.

I recently read a response on a thread that GC has made about items possibly being a factor of the meele vs ranged discussion.

But I think it's more than that, I think itemization is a huge flaw of league of legends that causes all types of balance issues. We have so much champion diversity but not item diversity. We should have items that compliment champion skillsets like kiting, slowing, being tanky, increasing cc durations, gap closing, escaping, etc..

Most* mages usually have a universal build set (deathcap, hourglass, boots, deathfires, liandres, defense)

Most* adcs usually have a universal build set (bt,ie,pd/staticshiv,boots,lw,defense)

Most* tops/jungles usually build (boots, tanky items)

Most* supps usually have (boots, gp5, mage items) or (boots, gp5, tanky items)

^Even then, the tanky items are limited to like, 5-6 items (frozen heart, randys, banshees, sunfires, spirit visage, warmogs)

Maybe boots are the problems haha. But on a real note, if you look at other mobas, they have a chest load of items. I understand league of legends is trying to be a user friendly game with an easy learning curve, but it can still be that game while being fun and unique in item sets/masteries/runes/champion diversity.

I would suggest items that give more than just stats.

Maybe enhancements to slows that are projected by champions and not the item itself. (ex: Frost Umbrella +40 ap Unique Passive: Enhances the user's slow by 10%)

Maybe giving a defense item that gives more than just health, an aura, and straight up def stats. (ex: Shadow Shoes +25 def +25 mr +10 movespd Unique Passive: Decreases user's speed by 30 when active is used Active: Allows the user to cast a clone of themselves lasting 2 seconds)

Discussions/suggestions/Thoughts?

I can see where you're going with it. I Riot has been doing a great job with Items actually, about a year ago there were hardly any gp5 items or trinkets like they have now. They game is slowly, but surely progressing and that's a good thing. But while I'm here I was wondering about 2 types of items myself. I was wondering about AP items that'll have Crit and also Spell Vamp. I'm not even a Mage type of guy but I'd love to see Riot cater a little more to Mages and Assassins with Spell Vamp. It's already bad enough that everyone knows to focus them lol.
