I fixed Essence Reaver
New Recipe:
Pickaxe + Vampiric Scepter + Forbidden Idol + 425 g = 2800 gp
- 60 AD
- 10% Lifesteal
- 10% Cooldown Reduction
- 10 mp/5
- Same passive as current
Fixes the problem of giving the builder no mana regen during the build phase.

they are making it a top tier item like
and
having 80 ad
Neat.
I fixed it the exact same way 19 days ago.
I like this recipe, actually. It would make Jayce more viable in the top lane or as an AD carry.
prettymuch everyone on PBE fixed Reaver that way befor release...but somehow no it sill went out with a bad builtpath
Yeah, maybe not Forbidden Idol exactly, but I could agree that giving it a component that grants extra mana in some way would be ideal.
Honestly, I prefer the higher AD tier that they're testing.
Mostly because the mana refund seems most attractive during lane, but rushing this in lane as an ADC really puts you behind. I'd love to use it on Miss Fortune and Ezreal but it forces me to chose between damage and longer laning between breaks and unfortunately damage will win every time.
Giving it mana regeneration wouldn't be terrible, and it would be nice if the CDR appeared earlier in the recipe but I don't think it would really "fix" its problems, as keeping it at 60AD is what I believe is the root cause of that.
not really
So far, the ways that've been recommended include, afaik:
Put the mana restore passive on a new mid-tier item so that it's available when it's needed most, then bump Reaver into a top-tier state.
Add an existing mana item (I've seen Idol, Chalice, and even Tear suggested) into its recipe, but keep its final stats more/less the same.
Change the Pickaxe to a Brutalizer so it can provide better lategame stats without being, basically, a slightly-different Bloodthirster.
Personally, I think it should mix with Sheen. Why Sheen?
Mana. Sapphire Crystal is not a game, and it'll make mana a bit more friendly with each B until the item is finished.
Spellblade passive allows it to compete for a spot in a build without being "basically Bloodthirster".
Diminishing returns when stacked with Trinity Force (Spellblade should apply the TF damage and Reaver mana gain, similar to how Iceborn + Lich Bane works); it's already strong with triforce builds and not really in need of any love, there.
But that's just my 2 cents.
Champion who need to build Essence Reaver are champion who stack well with Sheen, so I think:
Sheen+Vampiric scepter=Essence Reaver, SpellBlade also make refound mana equal 50% Attack Damage Base.
Here is my suggestion:
Turn Essence Reaver into an early game purchase by something like: Long Sword + 340g = 700g The Stats will be: 10 Attack Damage and UNIQUE Passive of 2-8% of your damage dealt by basic attacks will grant you mana This will solve early game mana problems for mana reliant AD champion, specifically for marksman, where this item is suppose to help.
The end game upgrade will be what the Essence Reaver gives now just with a slightly different name and item icon with the build and stats being: Essence Reaver(700g) + Vamperic Scepter(800g) + B.F. Sword(1550g) + 450g = 3500g Stats: 80 Attack Damage, 10% Life Steal, 20% Cooldown Reduction, UNIQUE Passive of 2-8% of your damage dealt by basic attacks will grant you mana 20% Cooldown Reduction is so this item is more like Grail just for Marksmen instead of Mages, it just makes sense that a high mana sustain item should grant high CDR as well
