Make Invites to Lobbies Friends Only

Murman·12/30/2019, 7:08:10 AM·94 votes·15,593 views

There has been a cyber stalker going to content creator's streams to spam invite them to games after they been blocked. This not only makes the content creator uncomfortable, but the community watching the streams has to put up with the person in question as well. If games were made to be invite only to friends, the stalker wouldn't be able to harass the content creators. Blocking the person doesn't seem to work, as the stalker is still able to spam invite.

Please do something to help your content creators and make the community a much better place for everyone.

Can confirm, the individual mentioned above has constantly sent group invites to people that have blocked him and all related accounts, the block has no control over this. In cases of chronic stalking like this, just the nuisance of rejecting the continuous invites is enough to upset many of the victims involved.

This is a true story, not only that they spam anyone and everyone's name that appears on screen, some sort of help denying this behavior would be great

the ability to block none friend invites would be great, this will allow ANYONE streaming not just the few in questioned to block invites from any random viewer

There needs to be a feature where you won't receive invites from people who are not your friend.

There should be a setting that allows/disallows invites to games based on personal preferences. The added preferences should include, but not be limited to: invites = friends only; invites = anyone; invites = disabled completely.

Too many times do I see many people be invited against their will and blocking the people inviting does not matter when the person is committed. Just the other day I witnessed a cyber stalker spam invite four streamers, AS WELL AS ALL OF THEIR VIEWERS, to a game in regular intervals. I feel so annoyed that I have to "just deal with it" because there is no filter for who can invite you to games. Outside of game all I hear is the continuous invite ping and there's nothing I can do about it. Please, this issue needs to be addressed.

hey i think it'd be a great idea if people who are blocked shouldnt be able to invite people :)

Blocked people being able to send invites should be fixed, but even then once it does get fixed the cyber stalker starts to make accounts with special characters in the name. It becomes very difficult to type out his new name to block it as he spams you invites.

There should be a "Receive Invites from Friends Only" setting which was suggested earlier.

Having an option to "only receive invites from friends" seems like such an easy fix and something that should have been implemented into the client already. Allowing people who aren't friends, especially those who are blocked, to send invites to games might seem like something you can "just ignore", but for us it's a constant reminder that a stalker and harasser has power and influence in our lives. Some of us have been going through this for over five months. Please consider implementing this for our peace of mind.

Blocking the person doesn't seem to work, as the stalker is still able to spam invite.

Then this is the actual problem.

I also agree that an option to only receive invites from friends should be added. Adding a filter to check if the sender is on your friends list and blocking the invite if that isn't true would be an easy thing to implement.

For the majority of players, this isn't a real issue. But for higher profile users, stalking and unwanted invites is. Adding a feature like described above doesn't hurt or negatively impact anyone who plays within the bounds of the TOS. It only gives users and content creators a tool to prevent an unneeded source of anxiety.

Please take the time to look into this issue. Support the community, and the community will support you. Leaving this unchecked may make people want to drop the game just to avoid being harassed. And that's not good for anyone who enjoys the game and wants to see it succeed. Thanks!

Makes sense. That's an interesting loophole. But if you think about it, no one would usually have the time or put in the effort required to spam invites after their games. I think that its most likely someone watching the stream doing this. My suggestion for the streamer would be to remove their game client from showing up temporarily on stream until their matches are loaded up.

Good luck, OP and the streamer, whoever it is.

OR you should be able to put yourself on a "Do Not Disturb" kinda setting, where you block invites from outsiders

Pretty sure there is a block from invites

I think he needs to be investigated...he seems to have mental issues. I've talked to him once after he spammed me with friend invites. He thinks that by doing this, they will eventually talk to him and like him...the guy is nuts. He doesn't listen to anyone...he will just keep doing this as long as he wants because "he can't help it to like the streamer's looks" (this is what he said)...he really is obsessed, and who knows what he will try to do?

Murman12/31/2019, 4:13:21 AM2 votes

The guy in question is clearly mentally ill and continuously engages in stalker-like behavior.
