Matchmaking is bugged

So I'm currently gold 5, and I went into a ranked game, with 2 other gold players, but my adc (i was support) on op.gg, had 2 latest normal games, 0 ranked games played and was unranked. She chose to play ashe, with thunderlords. (not that it really mattered) We played against other gold players in our lane and got stomped because of ashe's little ranked experience. Question is, why is this ashe in a high silver/low gold game to begin with? Also to note that in the same game there was a silver 3 player as our top lane, with 14 games on ranked played total throughout the whole current season, and also lost his lane. WHAT IS UP WITH MATCHMAKING???
