Bulk open=trash?

So maybe I'm wrong here....generally when i open one chest I get 2-3ish items per chest, but any time I use the open X chests option I get almost the same number of items. I understand if i open like 2 chests, that's rng and i suck, but 3+ if I'm getting 2 champs i already own + like 100 blue? I feel like I'm getting fucked by not opening one at a time. Anyone else or am I just trash at chests?
