Just a little question about League of Legends: Clash of Fates being on Steam.

I don't know if anyone would have the direct answer to a question like this, but I found out that Steam still has about 5-8 active players for the very first versions of League of Legends, but since the game quickly grew even during the beta period Riot pulled it from Steam and stuck with the free to play format to help the game grow faster.

My question is, if I were to somehow get my hands on an actual working copy and unused CD key from the Clash of Fates era, would I be able to use the key in Steam and add League of Legends: Clash of Fates to my library? Seems like something I'd have to take a crap-shoot for but I honestly wonder if it would work.

I mean you can add LoL now to your library as a non steam game and be able to access it from the client. but if you are looking to play the OLD lol you may need to try some clone clients, otherwise known as 3rd party (illegal) servers. I can't advertise the sites on here but they do exist. They're not nearly as active at the current client obviously but they are out there.

I mean it'd probably be added to your library but it might not install correctly

And you can add non-steam games to your library but my experience with it is that the League client derps a lot when combined with the Steam client, it works maybe half the time so I just stopped bothering to open it via Steam
