I'm trash with Akali and need guidance.

A little background: So I have been playing League casually for years and seem to magically adapt and excel at any champion I pick up and play. However this blessing does not apply to a singular Champion of whom because of nice skins, fun kit and high skill ceiling I can't seem to just toss aside for someone more friendly to my playstyle. I'm searching for a Akali main or anyone else who can shed some light on why she is so unique that all my experience literally amounts to nothing when I play her. My builds are up to date with what supposively works so I know it's my own failings.

If at all possible i'd also like to maybe play some casuals with someone very familiar with her as well. I've never asked the league community for help before but im desperate and really do need a Akali senpai.
