Would it be worth making a new account to learn to play?

It's been a while...I've been watching the forums and waiting. My friend is constantly talking my ear off about this game. I haven't played in three+ years; my last game that I observed (hadn't played in weeks by that point) with him and another friend involved copious amounts of a certain three letter abbreviation from a player on the other team. I'd lost all interest, but once League bites you, you never quite leave. My friend does supports exclusively, and is reporting that the community is improving rapidly and dramatically. I figure another year, year and a half, and the bugs should be shaken out. I didn't get that far, only level 15. And, I wasn't horribly effective at those games. So, my question is this: would it be worth it to make a "smurf" account to limit my options, and go back through and actually LEARN how to play the hard way? Because he wants (and needs) people to play with.
