Long story short, been gone for five years, and now I have no idea how I am supposed to earn the new IP. As I leveled up, I got plenty....but now the levels give maybe 100.
Care to share some basic info? No need for in-depth explaination, just some basic ideas?

Basically, instead of IP you have BE. BE can be used in two ways: in the store, or in hextech crafting. Crafting is where you get chests (from you or a premade getting an S- or higher on a champion, limit 1 per champion per season and 1 per week), as well as key fragments (from being honorable, used to open chests), and champion capsules (from level up).
Opening a level up capsule gives champion shards, and sometimes additional blue essence. These champion shards can be disenchanted for BE (about 1/6 or so of their store cost), or can be upgraded with BE you already have to unlock the champion for a 25% discount on the store price. Furthermore, champion shards can be combined with mastery tokens (from S ranks at mastery 5 on a champion) to unlock the mastery without spending BE.
Overall, if you were to disenchant every single champion shard you get, you actually get more BE now than you would have gotten IP under the old system - because of the minimum BE per capsule. If you make good use of "upgrading" shards (i.e. hold on to shards for champions you don't have but want until you can upgrade them for 25% cheaper than buying in store) then you actually come out even better off.

you get plenty of be (on average at least lel), it's just a hellin feelbad system and the be accumulates in weird chunks when you do get it

It's a minimum of 810, average is somewhere in the 900-1000 range (can't remember where exactly and CBA to look it up rn, but remember that the average started with a 9).

To both of you, thank you. Exactly what I was looking for, so thank you. But I just opened up a capsule and got 400 BE, so I am not sure if there is a minimum. I have opened up several that were only 700. Also, those ones did not have anything else, just BE. So, I think it might just be a random number between 400 and 1k, because I have not seen anything lower than 400, and I got ONE capsule that had about 850ish. The Rest were 600+, with the one odd one at 400. Maybe it has something to do with my Summoner level?

My apologies I didn't look at your level.
You're correct - while level 30+ capsules are randomized (with the 810 minimum), the contents of your level up capsules from level 1-29 are predetermined.

1-30 has its BE frontloaded into earlier levels. You're just in an unfortunate spot where your account is at the tail end of that curve. Just push past 30 and it'll normalize. Or if you haven't invested much in this account it could be better to make a new one since they offer a couple champs as free unlocks to new accounts.
Inkling Commando1 votesevery time you level up you get a garbage capsule that will have champion shard(s) worth anywhere from 90-1500 BE. every ten levels is a glorious garbage capsule which will almost always have the same crap in it as a normal garbage capsule but on milestones like every 25 or 50 levels the glorious garbage capsule will contain an emote or even a gemstone.

I want to be upset with you, but I can't help but laugh at the accuracy of what I got from those loot capsules. I DID however get one for Illaoi, who is a friggin beast (last I checked) and one for Cassiopaeia, another favourite of mine. So it was not ALL BAD lol. Plenty of BE though, I bought Sett, Senna, Alphelios....Alpine....Alpo Dog Food? Whatever his name is. Also bought a bunch of the 450 champions.

This is my only account anymore. I was gone so long, Riot deleted my old account. Besides, it was the account I used to play with my wife (we met on league, and she died) and I thought it would be good to try it all fresh. Totally different experience than what I had 10 years ago LOL.
