okay, why have i only been getting Champ shards in Loot Boxes. it's been like 10 boxes already. i got some skins and had a little left over for some boxes and even more champ shards. idk what's going on here. my luck wasn't this bad before. but now it doesn't feel even worth opening loot boxes anymore.

That is literally impossible. There is bad luck protection, so that every 3rd box, you are guaranteed a skin shard.
Unless you are confusing them with level up chests and honor capsules. Those never have skins (except for the level 5 rank up reward, which includes Grey Wawick or Medieval Twitch)
nope, i swear I've only been getting champ shards from loot boxes, Last season i was getting skin shards all over the place, now it's like i never get them. and idk why.
For me I've opened 7 boxes recently with the bad luck protection being the only thing that splits up the single champ shards I've been getting from boxes. The thing is even when I get a skin shard its either a ward shard or an emote. There has definitely been a change to drop rates in boxes.
