Remember when everyone was saying this is the worst season ever in preseason?

And everyone was whining about how the new runes were awful and they wanted a revert? And how people wanted to use their pwn icons for missions? And how they wanted to remove mission passes? And that brief time where twitch was dominating every game? And how they wanted skins for shen and others and wanted more URF to play? And how honours felt unsatisfying to get?

Well, every one of those problems is now fixed. yet people still find something to complain about every day, 24/7. You know why this is? It's because in a game as big as league, there is NEVER EVER EVERRRR Going to be a situation where there are no problems and nothing needs fixing. New problems come up just as fast as old ones get put down.

Give Riot credit for what they've done RIGHT, not what they AREN'T Doing right, or you're not better than the flaming player you had a few games ago.

New runes are still awful due to how imbalanced they are, and how they've always been. The two regarding icons and missions were simply huge inconveniences that never needed to be done. There's always going to be something dominating the game, and that's why it's called meta. People were mad about Shen not getting a skin for reasons that were utterly stupid. People complain about URF no matter what they do with it because another group royally fucked up the mode for everyone else. Honors are still mostly unsatisfying, and honor level feels like a massive trudge.

Riot has made way too many mistakes recently for me to be giving them credit on what they did well. Especially when they started with other major mistakes in late season 5.

Runes weren't fixed they still suck and are the most glaring problem with the game right now.

Totally agree there is never going to be a perfect balance and you can't make everyone happy, but I do think Riot should take a step back from making large scale changes that borderline change the genre of the game. There's been a lot of changes recently that I find...questionable. I'll name a few.

  1. intentionally changing match length - it's ok to keep people from being able to mindlessly stall when they are way behind, not arguing that point. But this is something that needs to be looked at with smaller changes to classes and items and runes, rather than Xp changes, income changes, neutral buff changes. When you try fitting an early game, a mid game, and a late game into your product, it's super difficult to keep all three viable/impactful when the average match length is like 26 minutes.

  2. Making the game so linear - Knowing your win conditions and understanding how your team plays into other team comps is a large part of league and it should be. By favoring mechanics and lane matchups so heavily, we are removing emphasis from other areas of the game that made it so diverse and engaging. The game has become far too formulaic. Give us options. Instead of saying "Oh they ganked bot and are doing drake now, so I have ot go to herald", let it be an option to go clear the top side jungle and get rid of jungle catch up xp so that you can choose whether you want to get herald or if you want to set their jungle back in xp. Depending on who is ahead and what the jungle champ is, that could very realistically be a preferable choice. Right now in solo q bottom lane almost always becomes the focal point of major action. What if we put something top that mad eis equally desirable to play around? What if drake had 10% more hp so that when the 4 man gank comes bot it's not also a guaranteed drake?

  3. Listening to casuals in general - I'm not going to go into listing all of these changes right now, cuz there are a lot, but just in general I think this is a bad idea. Look at the track records of other popular video games. Typically they start heavily catering towards the demands/complaints of their casual audience either once they are on the decline, or right before the decline. If Riot wants to be taken seriously as an Esport and have Esports become as much of a tradition as traditional sports, you have to treat it like it is one. The mentality of "get me in a game ASAP, let me fight right away, let me fight a lot, and be done in 25 min or less win or lose" has messed up a lot of elements of this game. What riot has done over the past few seasons would be like if the NFL took 40 yards off the field length and reverted unnecessary roughness penalties because the wives at home who have to watch football on Sundays complain that it's boring.

  4. Removing entire styles of play - I'm speaking specifically about two here. One being control style jungling, and the other being full poke comps. Trying to keep this novel short, let us just suffice to say removing entire styles of play is just uninteresting. The game will never be perfectly balanced, and everything will have it's time to shine in the meta. But these two things over the past 3-4 seasons have just disappeared, like not even in the conversation anymore. It's dumb, dumb as hell. Make them weak, make them non-meta, but at least let it be playable for crying out loud.

  1. They didn't revert runes
  2. Who even cares about this? it's like people crying about lore, the 8 of you can go make a LoL tabletop game and play that
  3. Non issue to me, this affects you personally in no way if someone else buys one
  4. Twitch was never even above a few % pick rate and congrats the entire bot lane is ruined and fucking useless in comparison to top lane now, congrats on that victory bro.
  5. The way they deliver what we want is like that meme where you get what you want but there is a bad part that ruins it entirely aka All Random
  6. Honors still feel unsatisfying to get

So basically out of all the issue you listed only the ones that weren't really an issue were solved, and the major issues were either ignored, or changed into something worse

congrats you've graduated to full blown Riot Games Fan Boy

your title will come with an invisible border and 10,000 RP redeemable in season 32
