Why does the merchandise for this event not ship until march 2019?

Seems a bit weird to me. This event and all it's in game things. But the real life merch is a pre order for 2019.

The items will be made in bulk upon order. They dont know how many they need. Then they need to get the production line going, QA, etc. Im ASSUMING march is kinda a "latest date" projected.
