The problem with the boards and opinions.

So I don't really like to post on the boards much, but sometimes I just have to say some things that just annoy me.

Recently, Riot decided to change their logo out of nowhere, and people made their "opinions" heard. While I was scrolling thru i noticed one of the biggest comments to be downvoted was something positive about it. All the while people made jokes about communism, and such with no negative reaction.

I've noticed this trend for years, for all sorts of seasons ( and probably just a common symptom with the internet as a whole ) but it's mostly been the same. You NEED to agree with all of the community, or be outed as Hitler or something.

Whatever kind of subject it is, from champions, items, runes, fucking logos, if you are not with the zerg, you are not valid. It's just something that I hate about the community as a whole. "Opinions" are not opinions, just a zerg rush of one common idea.

How is Riot supposed to make proper feedback if the opinion is not varied, or shoved behind downvotes because it does not conform to the zerg hivemind. I'm an artist and in order to improve, I NEED DIFFERING OPINIONS. I can't improve if i hear just one side of the argument nonstop, it gets old fast.

I get that people are not pleased with this game lately, various choices have been controversial, but more often than not, it's never been expressed any differently. It's either we hate this and people who like this get shunned, or we love that and anyone who hates that is invalid. It's so annoying to think that we embrace this kind of behavior so much, that it's no wonder Riot can't have proper feedback if all the exact same concerns are the same with no differing but equally vaild points.

TL;DR The recent Riot bashing and circlejerk of common "opinions" is annoying and people wonder why Riot very rarely takes feedback here.

Believe the term you are looking for is circlejerk

I just pay attention to comments, downvotes without comments are just trolls

While I'm on board that there are too many complaints threads. Riot is not innocent by any means enough to ignore all the comments. There are PLENTY of comments/threads available that can easily spark a good discussion with Riot.

However, for some reason "most" Rioters choose to spend a lot if not all their time doing what Mort just did. (While I in particular do not care for the subject of bans and remain neutral) Mort just "responded" to that post... however look what he choose to talk about.

I play nothing but aram. Aram mmr is in top 1% and the changes have made me quit league. The game of aram is nothing like it used to be. Nothing but luck in games, who wins the team fight around 10 mins? They kill 2 paper towers. They want to die and buy! They die and the other team that lost both towers loss 4 and loss game. The damn towers are the single biggest problem, farts knock them down. Buffalo the towers so I don't just loss the game after my 18/1 ass gets killed so I can buy, just to see my team unable to to defend and loss the game

Except there are literally no changes to towers pre 15 minutes. So how is it "nothing like it used to be"?

The OP did not bash Riot even complimenting them saying "it's the best addition ever", he mentions things like ARAM only accounts, how it was asked for for years, and that people should not be seeking their mains. However while Mort is not wrong in what he says, Mort makes no response to the OP he read. Rather just some flaming child that he could burn since the kids argument was weak. We do not need Rioters to do this, periodically it's funny, but overall Riot as a whole does not respond enough to well thought out or good post.

Their are a few that do. Bazerka is a good example as of recent. he is going around actually reading post and taking time with some of them. Take a look here.

Bazerka is on a hotstreak in doing what a lot of the boards wants. Red post, but not just red post ones that indicate that Riot cares. We need more Bazerka running around the boards.

At the end of the day they can reply to whatever they want, I or no one else can stop them except maybe their boss lol. I just think that what Bazerka is doing is all the boards really wants just more of them.

Just wanted to touch on this as I see it a lot.

Riots logo would look better with thin borders and the original fist flipped. IMO I don't think the graffiti RIOT was that great. Looks very "indie" to me.

Well heres the thing. Currently there has been a downvote/upvote bot that has been going and manipulating votes atm, mostly with things AGAINST Riot.

So currently dont put much stock in votes atm.

However, yes, the problem is with the forums that most tend to be biased in some way or another. Most do not think through their commentaries or read the posts before they comment especially if it is a decent amount of text. Most people on the boards are lazy and are usually here just to complain.

However there are people here that also are pretty neutral and try to give informed opinions. Quite a few of them.

So while it may not be openly seen much that Rioters look around the forums, there are still those that I hope do.

Votes are a meaningless construct that serve only to damage the level of discourse, and they always have been.

Maybe Riot shouldn't have forced a reddit-style formatting onto the Boards if they didn't want the mechanics of their discussion to support this sort of thing.

well, there are also people who blindly love everything or just try to stand out.

New logo is out ---> it´s terrible ---> everyone points out that it´s terrible --> then some post that it´s not so bad to look level headed ---> then try to elevate themselves even further by painting the opposition as unreasonable.

ofc we have circlejerks here, but not everything a majority agrees or disagrees with is automatically a circlejerk.
