The classic profiles have always been much more visually appealing while retaining space efficiency

Anyone I show this picture to says that it looks better than any of the redesigned summoner profiles. I really miss this design, especially after the current profile update came out, it just doesn't catch my eye in any way. The designs for the old profile felt a lot more unique than the recent visual "upgrades".

I think I can vouch for a fair amount of people when I say that Riot would have a lot of positive feedback if they went back and revamped this design to retain the same feel while landing more in line with the clients current art style. The classic summoner profiles felt more like a display case where you can show off what you've worked hard grinding at, it's something you can be proud of every time you reach a new milestone (it used to have milestones for different tiers of wins). Having your top 3 mastered champions on your profile gives other people a more detailed but simple way to see what type of champions you play, and what play styles you prefer. It feels good to have this information on display instead of being hidden behind a hover over graphic.

The redesigned summoner profiles just feel kind of hollow. Sure you can have your favorite champion or skin as your profile background, but other than that it just looks like a place where all your statistics and achievements are gathered together and slapped on a page. People that don't play ranked have a huge amount of vacancy on their profile, classic profiles displayed your normal, ARAM and Dominon (R.I.P) wins. People that didn't play ranked still had something they could be proud of, now they just have an empty space. The classic summoner profile design did a lot of simple things right that make a world of difference on a glance at someones profile. It can definitely be improved upon to be more streamlined but there is a saying: if it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.

With a little polish the classic design has so much potential to be an amazing interface for the summoner profile. It's one of the things I really miss from my days playing LoL long ago. It would be a shame to see such a great interface get scrapped, I would love to see this awesome design return with a new coat of paint!

Thanks for reading!

Old league had a better atmosphere and thematic in general.

The spellbook like page felt creative and ancient, a work of art.

New client is just another windows looking app with icons lol

The old one showed you basically everything basic, now you have to hover over everything and switch tabs

I unironically like the cleaner Hextech look the client has now. It's thematically cohesive but still makes the game feel modern. That extends to the profiles, although I'm not as fond of the very latest change. I like having three champions showing up by default! Although I'll see how I feel about it once I've "filled in" the blank spaces.

companies nowadays LOVE form over function, just look at the newest google chrome update, EVERYTHING is a circle, new tabs in google chrome now literally shows LESS because instead of squares which show you a picture of the website + it's name it's just a tiny circle, companies are obsessed with circles

I mentioned this when the new client first came out but I'll say it again. I think that we should be able to minimize our friend's list because it's not relevant enough of the time to justify the visual space it takes up. If you free up that space you can view a whole additional column of content when browsing the store and it would open up possibilities for other things to be more visible or displayed in your other tabs.

I really like the 2nd and 3rd design concept idea. I want it.

I always liked the newer ones myself. Never liked that old man summoner thing on the profile of the old ones. I like how we can choose our own backgrounds of champions now. Though with the recent update I hate that they keep pushing more CLASH stuff on to us... I dont want the Trophy or Banner.

How dare you critizise the diverse and female new profile we got? Your feedback is so oppressing just like your cis male existance! You're just a manbaby!

I liked the redesign before this latest one, mainly because I could select a background.

On the other hand, there's no denying that the earliest version was more space efficient and informative.

If I have to be honest, I actually think visually the new client looks great and is far superior to the old one. The design and content on the Overview is really lackluster, I can't deny that (I mean most players have big empty spots where their honor, trophy, and banner is) and the performance hit on the computer isn't really worth the visual upgrade, but just by looking I still think Riot did the right thing upgrading to this new version.

There's a lot of work to be done, but Riot can still adjust the new client until they've got it on par with the design and content the old one brought to the table.

I much, much prefer the new client's aesthetic. It fits nicely with the current OS used. The old one would only look good if it's fullscreen and totally immersive imo

Since they added the clash trophy (and beyond) to the profile page, then it started to look like shit
