League's progression reminds me of Diablo 2

Vanilla D2, you'd see some interesting gear combos. Odd builds. Duels weren't always over quite as fast. Sometimes it was fast. There was room for counterplay though. All the classes are pretty viable to make it through the game and do PVP.

The expansion comes out, and now there's all these rune words and shit and you got hammerdins fucking teleporting at you, Amazons shooting/throwing even faster, T O W N E R D R U I D S etc. Duels consisted of everyone having almost identical builds and gear and it's about who can 2 shot who first. Unless you're pretty good or have friends, only 2 classes can really do all the content (ubers, even saw a lot of people who didn't play sorc or paladin start choking in Hell mode Chaos Sanctuary). You mostly see the same thing every duel game. Paladins are most likely to win.

I still love D2 and I also enjoy League. I'm not bashing or whining but I was just thinking about this earlier.

It's a very common progression for a lot of games to make.

Every step along the road looks reasonable, and then you take stock and realize that you've ruined (or, at least, severely damaged) the game.

Diablo 2 was never about PvP.
