sorry i have a good relationship with my mom and dad and wasnt kicked out when i was 18, i pay rent okay? i have a job as an artist, and i can guarantee you i make more money than you. honestly its fucking annoying when people ask me how old i am (28) when they find out i live with my parents and make fun of me. how exactly is it a bad thing? i get to see and spend time with the people i love the most all the time, rent is cheap and it goes to someone i dont mind giving money to rather than some greedy cheap. but yeah haha lol laugh at me because i havent moved out. so go ahead, throw all your money away being "independent" while i sit on tons of cash i get to save living with my parents.

the thing that people assume when you say you live at home is that you have no freedoms because you're under your parents roof. be glad you have parents who care about you. some of us dont. some of us dont even have parents. some of us dont even have family.

so to that end it's just people who are jealous or envious of your lifestyle. looking for ways to make themselves feel like they matter.

there's nothing wrong with saving money and having a reliable family.

if someone jokingly brought up the cure for cancer to make fun of yasuo... would it matter what the intent was? i attended a seminar about rape and rape victims (against my will) and in that seminar the lady talked about how talking about something openly that is normally considered taboo will help to remove those restraints and could be used to make rape victims feel more comfortable in coming forward to point fingers at the perpetrator/s. and that by making rape jokes and such that it would enable the perpetrators into continue to assault more and more victims. so by making a joke into a serious matter you'd instead be enabling the victims.

so using that logic i've turned what may have been a joke about a serious issue into a serious issue regardless of context. why enable perpetrators when i can enable victims?

Sorry but i'm pretty sure i said "Parents love their children to LIVE with them" i mean: they prefer to keep the child they RAISED by their side (at least that's what my parents and my friend's parents feel) making sure he is safe and living well .... i meant it in both ways.

i can give you several specific examples of parents that dont want their children around them. divorced parents looking for a new mate. older parents who have retired. parents who have little money. parents who abandoned their children at an early age. parents with small houses. the parents of irresponsible children. the parents of a child who has different religious and social views. parents who work and want go out on weekends. parents with secret addictions.

so even though you're pointing out emphasis my reply remains unchanged. shitty parents are shitty parents. be happy you've never met one.

the point is that not all parents love or want to be around their children. to think that every parent loves and wants to be under the same house with their children from day 1 to day infinity is ridiculous. some parents do. some parents dont. is that the childs fault? no. that doesnt make it right for some of those less fortunate children to ridicule the ones who are loved enough and whose company is desired enough by their parents to be able to live at home ad infinitum. the same way as it's not right for those who are lucky to make fun of children who have to do without.

The fact that this has so many upvotes is a sad commentary on how we have evolved as a society.

When I was growing up in the 80s/90s (I'm 39), my parents and those of the previous generations taught me the value of independence, a good education, self-reliance, etc.

I've owned my own home for many years now and I couldn't imagine how embarrassing that would be to bring a date or my friends to my parents home to hang out. Not to mention the perception that I'm mooching off of other people... as a man that just insults the very fiber of my being and how I was raised.

It might be a different story if my mother was severely ill and required me or my brother to be around and the cost of permanent hospital care was too high, but that's not the case with the OP.

Because I can think of a few countries where young people can't live on their own, let alone have a family with another person and are forced to live with their parents because of the financial crisis.
