Someone needs to nut up and go confront their boss about Nexus Blitz.
For fooking sake man, nut up and tell that big bad boss that he made a mistake discontinuing Nexus Blitz, please.
Thank you, Smashed Hash

People didn't show as much interest in Nexus blitz as much as you think people did, they showed graphs of activity and it had like 25% lower even with event exclusive missions for Blitz

Oh yeah the selective stat/doctored data pic to justify trying their best to not run any more RGM, i just need to point to their reply to the question as it shows their bias.
Hmm no ranked for Nexus blitz/Aram yet TFT gets ranked (wonder why and wonder why (besides shop stuff) riot liked TFT to run it and playrate was so high at start lol)
FYI Nexus Blitz was run between slowest part of year btw.

ARAM doesnt get ranked because a ranked ARAM game mode makes no logical sense.

..... Both TFT and SR normals are extremely popular. Ranked is generally always the minority group.

How is this biased??
Riot is a company. They want to make money. If people aren’t playing the gamemode then there’s no point in developing it anymore.
Hell, they even gave it another chance after the initial run to fix some problems and see if they could make the gamemode popular. Let it go.
People didn't show as much interest in Nexus blitz as much as you think people did, they showed graphs of activity and it had like 25% lower even with event exclusive missions for Blitz

That doesn´t mean nobody played it. Removing a mode because it´s not as popular as URF just proves that RIOT don´t care about their players

If hardly anyone plays it why keep it. You’ll never be able to make every player happy, but if you make a product that can make more People happy instead of trying to fix a product that many people clearly don’t like- why wouldn’t you make a new product?

And what is this new product? URF for the 30th time? (which is sadly better than the game itself) Removing Twisted Treeline? Or a f***ing Hearthstone Rip-off? (5 years after the hype has died out)
If they wanted to make everyone happy, they would reintroduce rotating game modes...but they won´t.
Because they are cheap and lazy
Can't have as much interest with an 18-minute-per-game mode event when like 80% of the missions are "get x reward x amount of times" or "get in sleigh x amount of times" when the rewards not only are RANDOM but also require your team to win the event(s) to get them without getting burnt out of the game.
And yet Riot discontinued it because of all the burn out. Gee, I wonder why people got burnt out.

If you are just focused on rewards then that right there shows interest isn't that high. A game mode should be more than just rewards.

yea, that's how I feel since Riot has been clear about the mode.
Unfortunately, they are right in abort it, because there's no reason to keep it while other projects have higher interest by more players.
New alternative game modes doesn't show up since Nexus Blitz because Riot noticed there's more results in New Games, and not new features of the same game.
For Riot, League has already taken the many players as possible. Now what only matter to Riot with it is more Skin, Champs and gimmick with Summoner's Rift to keep players interested with the same game mode that surely satisfy the majority of players.
While people still only like Summoner's Rift over and over again, Nexus Blitz has no reason in come back to please a few niche players that already has uninstalled League and tried to forget it.
And even knowing all of it. I still fucking want this shit back!
Now i think what would have been better for me is have missed it while it was available. Because now I wouldn't even know what was this mode, instead of reminding the good experience that it was.

Because the first time it was released it was unbalanced with those permanent buffs, especially Caitlyn's. Second time it came back was tied to an event with specific missions that people didn't run it to enjoy, but to complete missions and it ruined a lot of matches for everyone else, especially people trying to do the sled mission.
Yeah it was such a waste like WHY SPEND ALL THAT TIME AND RESOURCES INTO SOMETHING YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO RELEASE AGAIN.
Like they haven't even added it back as a random mode since the last time WE HAVE JUST GOTTEN URF basically and that shitty poro king that you couldn't pick champions.

That's how all projects are invested... Some succeeded and and officially released, some fail and are scrapped. As much as the boards wanted Nexus Blitz they released chart where people played the mode less and less. If they wanted to keep it, they should've invested more time in making it interesting, but that's that and the mode is gone.
Move on.

We played it less and less because we went back to Ranked or SR. If they would have left it running they would have also had the stats for when i would have started playing again, after trying to climb. They don't have those stats tho, do they? RekSai CoffeeCo is right, the information is biased.

Of course you played it less and less when it became boring on one patch.
You can't magically change the whole gamemode on the same day a patch comes out, jesus
That's just you guys being impatient and spoiled

You, yourself, are literally admitting to playing other game modes while nexus blitz was running.
Why should riot wait for people to play if they’re going to play other things instead? They tried it with Dominion and Twisted Treeline and it clearly didn’t work.

I get burned out on the SR, and Nexus Blitz is my favorite variation. Right now I am burned out on SR, and would rather play some 20 min guaranteed matches. In-fact, its not even worth my time logging in. I don't play another other game besides league. Because I am not playing SR right now, why should they keep it around? lol
I have absolutely no desire to play tft, thats not why I downloaded or play this game. I downloaded this game for the MOBA and Macro play. It would be great to have an interesting variation of the game i love.

you got that right!
LOL they released the numbers, Nexus Blitz was soo fuckign underplayed, and only got more and more underplayed as the time went on. It didnt work, why would they put time in a game mode that isn't popular. Just let it go
Lets see... 1: It was announced as an unfinished alpha. They never gave us a product even close to a finished one.
2: Ranked took priority over it
3: The missions were repetitious grindfests that not only required you to spam games but also to win random rewards, and then USE those rewards an ungodly high amount of times (Crashing a sled into champions 100+ times sucked)
4: Semi limited event pool - i managed to get games where i had the same first, second, and third events. Same with limited or OP prizes
Riot doomed it to fail right before they released the “alpha” of TFT with all new assets, graphics, gameplay physics, items, etc. when NB had a hodgepodge terraformed SR-clone map. Fucking free rotation gamemodes got more map changes than NB - look at Odyssey, PROJECT: Overdrive, Star Guardian: Invasion, etc. got more polish than NB did on either of its two alpha phases

In regards to Tft, not let’s not pretend that it released as a finished product. The map wasn’t great by any means. It was buggy as hell and was missing so much information about so many things that should have been there in the first place.
They gave Nexus Blitz two runs and it still wasn’t popular. There isn’t anything to say.

Would you play 5+ games a day for a whole month of a currently-unfinished map with limited events and rewards, no ranked ladder, and balance changes not being made yet, especially if you thought that the next time it came around it'd be a more completed package with new map, minigames/rewards, balance tuning to the experimental items/rewards/buffs, etc?
I can tell you this - I've got more than a handful of games in alpha on my Steam account or just plain downloaded, and i play exactly 0 of them. However, i do play multiple games frequently that came OUT of alpha.
Consider that TFT was basically an entirely new (and tbh i still find totally unpalatable) gamemode with all new assets, and NB was given a shitty Summoners Rift clone that looked like something from a Chinese mobile game, with jarringly flat textures all over and a visible black skybox behind spawn, the exact same camps we have in SR with the only change being more of them for the 2 jgs - nothing gameplay, nothing visual.
At least in TFT the AI monster waves do things.
They frankly just need to rerun it with balance tweaks like ARURF/ARAM were given, some tweaks to the mode's unique parts, and a fresh coat of paint - and not advertise it as a slapped together "alpha 2.0", guarantee it'll do fuckin splendid during this half of the year if they actually put a minuscule amount of effort at the very least.

Why is this being downvoted. This is 100% accurate. Especially when compared with other game modes which were FAR more along in their own assets than NB ever got.
I really want an a fun gamemode where I'm not forced to play a champion I don't like. I have no idea why everything has to be random, if there are overpowered picks I'd have a better time dealing with them on my main than randomly getting them half the time and randomly getting them on the other team the other half.
Whats weird is that the riot employees making blitz put a lot of time and effort making it. Why would they just remove the mode for no reason after such a short ammount of time. Doesnt add up

That's how things normally work though. It's the same thing with Definitely not Dominion or such; just because they put time and effort into making something doesn't mean it will end up being something worth keeping.
Nexus Blitz with missions didn't even approach ARAM numbers, and as people finished the missions they just stopped playing it at all. There's no benefit to Riot in spending extra time on a failed project, so they cut it.

yes, but dominion was playable for 5 years while blitz was only 1 and a half months. They approximately started making prior to november 2017 when Pridestalker's blade was added to PBE. As a developer, I would be furious that the project I dedicated so much time for being deleted in so short of a time. Riot should have made the gamemode available for half a year just to be respectful alone.
The numbers they gave us were included all regions. Servers where players mainly used internet cafe's like Japan, South Korea, and China are definitely not spend as much time on that mode because they have to pay per hour. I can guarantee NA and EU had much higher numbers compared to other regions. They made a chart of all regions to fudge the look instead of a comparison by region

Actually the numbers that were given were only 3 regions. 2 of the 3 were korea and NA and yes NA had higher playrates.
I seem to remember certain regions only going getting certain modes only on weekends, they could have polished the map/events etc and kept it perm on higher playrate regions and weekends for lower playrate regions like korea/china.

Sorry but that is Riot excuse defending removing TT because Nexus Blitz had more playrate even tho TT had like 2-3 patches in all the years it was a game mode.
Kinda like Dominion, Twisted Treeline, Magma Chamber, event modes, and Rotating Game mode (RiP Ascension)?
Face it, Riot has a terrible track record when it comes to anything that's isn't a SR clone. It's the only thing they know how to maintain or promote.
I'm just waiting for the League themed fighting game. Riot bought out some devs (Radiant Entertainment) a while back, though I don't think there's been an official announcement yet.

Dominion: Riot's first alternate game mode. Received almost zero support, became a safe-haven for botters, and, despite release claims to the contrary, there was no effort to make a competitive ladder. Which, incidentally, the community went ahead and did for them. Competitive Dominion was played using custom games.
Twisted Treeline: Sounds like you were here to see how that one was treated.
Magma Chamber: Riot's third alternate game mode. It was supposed to be a 1v1 map. A beta version was shown during the second or third worlds tournament. It was then canceled for.... Reasons.
Event modes: Limited time alternate game modes intended for special events. Included the Star guardian side scroller, Dark Star Thresh's hook and fling, and so on. They eventually just stopped making them because they didn't generate enough interest.
Rotating Game mode: Was a collection of alternate game modes that were supposed to be on regular rotation every weekend. When they updated the client, they apparently didn't make it RGM compatible. And despite multiple assurances that they were working on getting it integrated, they eventually just dropped it entirely.
