Placement Matches (hard reset)

Just finished my placement matches. Went 7/3 (btw in those 3 defeats i had afk in each one of them, but OK...that is different topic) Last season i was Diamond 5, with MMR (according to opgg) normal for diamond 5 division. After 7/3 as i mentioned before i am placed into Gold 2. So i was like, WTF.... My question is about reset, is this season different? Is it HARD reset or what? I rly dont understand why am i placed so low? I started to play this game again after almost 1 year since i become parent :)) and had to renovate my apartment, there was no time for PC games :(( Maybe there is something new with ranked placements which i am not familiar with. I am rly interested how placement matches are working. Maybe there is explanation but i missed it. Answer or link would be much appreciated. THX

It's a soft reset. Take your MMR + 1200 and divide by 2. That's your new season starting mmr.

I cant remember my exact MMR from last season but it was around 2200 (according to opgg). If this is true what you said about MMR calculation (My MMR from last season + 1200 divided by 2) then Master and Diamond divisions are worst for SOFT reset (i didnt calculate for challenger), because you lose much more MMR comparing with other divisions.

SILVER LEAGUE MMR VALUES: 1090-1409 MMR Silver 5 MMR is 1090-1149. Silver 4 MMR is 1150-1209. Silver 3 MMR is 1210-1279. Silver 2 MMR is 1280-1349. Silver 1 MMR is 1350-1409. Master goes to Plat 3 (9 down) Diamond 5 goes to Gold 2 (7 down) Plat 5 goes to Gold 5 (5 down) Gold 5 goes to Silver 3 (3 down) Silver 5 goes to Bronze 1 (1 down)
