Hextech chests should not grant champion shards.

What it says so on the title. Up until now, I didn't know that you can actually get a champion shard instead of a skin shard- Opened the chest that I have gotten from the final april fools mission, and got a bard champion shard... In a way, I guess I did get fooled . . . [slayer-jinx-unamused]

Some might say that you can get hextech chests for free, so it shouldn't be a problem, but here is the catch- Unlike level capsules, which you can only get by leveling up and give only champion shards, you can still buy hextech chests in hopes of getting skins you either don't have, or possibly skins you'll want at a better price.

Leaving aside the prospect of gambling for now, the problem I want to point out is this: What you expect to get, compared to what you can actually get. Compared to skin shards, which you can either get by paying using riot points, or getting through either buying, or getting hextech chests through gameplay, champion shards are both a) Shards that you can already get, and in relative bulk, by leveling up your account. b) You don't necessarily need the champion shards to buy them using blue essence, too. Sure, the discount helps, but if you really want a certain champion? You can always buy it for the full blue essence price-Or even riot points, if you prefer.

Skin shards are the shards people expect to get when they open hextech chests, due to both their rarity compared to champion shards, and their value, being able to get rare skins such as pulsefire ezreal for example, legacy skins that aren't available anymore, or even just random skins that you happen to like.

If champion shards get added to the mix of the potential rewards, thus decreasing chance of getting skin shards, or even a gemstone- It lowers both the hype and interest of the playerbase, myself included of course, of buying and getting those hextech in the first place, feeling, for a lack of better term, "ripped off" and "cheated" of the rewards they were expecting.

Thus, in return, the value of the hextech chest goes down, and with that the number of players that will be willing to buy or get those hextech chests in the first place plummets down as well.

And with that, let me end this with a final note:

Please, oh Rito, oh Riot-Lord, oh Riot-Senpai, master of all tilt.

please, hear our plea, for we are crying tears of anguish.

[cass-cry]
