Victory determined by skill and teamwork. Requires much training and experience to reach the highest levels and stay there. Players scouted by franchises for their teams, signing contracts for salary and tournament winnings. Various leagues with ruling bodies and enforced penalties for misbehavior and cheating. Top players are minor celebreties. Air on sports cable channels and ticket sales max out capacity in largest stadiums in the world. Corporate sponsorships and product endorsements. Championship trophies. Collegiate teams and scholarships etc.

You made me look up the literal definitions for Sport and Esport. Esports (competitive games) have never really been claimed as a sport by definition, that's why they added the E (for electronic I assume?) to the front of it. What really confused me is why Esport was most popularly used in the 1940-1950s by google's chart. I don't think they even had video games.
