Unknown DirectX error

I come back to play League for the first time in a couple of months. First game had some rough edges. Had multiple DC's but that didn't bother me much. But the problem is with my second game. I went into lobby, and champion select fine. When we were connecting to go in-game, I have this note pop up, "An unknown DirectX error has occured and League of Legends cannot start. Please make sure your video card is using the latest video drivers from the manufacturer." I am pretty upset because I wanted to have a good time playing some league with my friends but not that's not even possible now. I have tried and looked at other people's post on this problem but I have yet to reach a solution to it. If anyone can help, I'll be grateful. But as of now, it looks like league of legends is going downhill.

Are you using a second monitor? I had the same issue and found switching to only using my primary monitor "fixed" it.

Also resinstall directX. Just Google how to do it.

I get the same problem. I don't have a permanent solution but what i do to get around the problem is this:

Open task manager Scroll down to find the process NVIDIA Container (there should be a bunch of them) Select the one that's consuming the most memory. Click End Task.

When you do this, you should see the Reconnect button on LoL client and your game should launch without issues.
