Number of Employees / Expansion / Bugs

Hi! How's it going everyone. Today I wanted to encourage all of you to share your opinions on a topic that worries me and frustrates a lot of the player base.

It's about the number of employees working at Riot (partially). I remember Riot saying (probably in an Ask Riot edition) that they weren't looking to hire a massive number of employees because they wanted just the right number of people who share the passion and enthusiasm... etc.

Fine, but some counter-arguments have been:

  • The game is full of bugs: no other company in the world of gaming has ever released a game with this number of bugs and the fact that they've been around for so long makes matters worse. Recently, someone on Reddit created a post enumerating every bug he had experienced (ONLY IN CLIENT, NOT GAME). Then everyone started commenting and sharing other bugs they had experienced, so he added them to the post as an edit. They added up to around 95 very annoying bugs (again, only in the client, not the game) that hadn't been fixed in a very long time. 95, only in client, in a game created by a BILLION dollar company. Let's not even talk about Clash or in-game bugs, like Neeko.

  • Expansion: Riot has always expressed a wish to convince everyone that League is an actual competitive sport, they're always looking to add more cool things to the game, make it more of a team game, reworking, creating new champs, music videos, short movies, now they even have comics and are collaborating with Marvel. If they really want to expand in the ways I mentioned I really hope they also consider the human capital needed to do things right. In the past few months (or maybe years?) many people have even started talking about the possibility of Riot releasing "the best MMO ever."

I think no matter how different we all are (we, as in us, the players), we tend to always agree on one thing: Riot has SO much potential. I personally believe they could just excel in so many areas besides gaming (where they already excel). I believe they could never fuck up a movie, for example. They already have a universe, a lore, plenty of stories to tell. They have amazing artists. I think they could even revolutionise the movie world with some crazy idea like, idk, having a comic whose 2nd part is a music video. That, to me, was groundbreaking. I believe they could be one of the first companies to create something amazing for virtual reality. Whatever. I just find it shocking that along with comments and ideas like these, when we think about League's buggy client, the very disappointing Clash mode and champs like Neeko, we think "indie company."

Anyway important thing here: I'm mostly bringing up what I hear most players think because I want to hear other people's opinions. It's not about me and what I think (some of it I don't even agree with). I just thought I'd like for this topic to be discussed because it honestly worries me a bit.
