Ranked Flex Provisional Ranking errors?

So I play ranked flex with my friends and exclusively with my friends, and so my ranked flex mmr is considerably lower than my solo/duo one. However, even though neither of us played ANY of our games so far in Flex, and we both ended at the exact same rank and mmr last season, we can't queue up because our solo/duo ranks are drastically different. Why is this the case? Shouldn't we be able to still play together?
