Dear Riot, Late Night Thoughts on Current Things, with a Bunny.
Hello, welcome to my thought bubble during the late hours of 11 at night where I live while currently writing this. I have a number of my own opinions with what is currently going on with Riot while also having read some of the discussions about recent topics. Shall we begin?
—The ‘Event’ Issues as well TFT— Having listened to different view points on the events of this year compared to last and taking time to think on it myself, I agree with the thoughts voiced out. The current events don’t feel like events, they feel Fake. Cash Grabs. Greedy pulls. Sure, I do like I can just spend about ten bucks to get som free shit from playing the game, especially grinding for prestige, it saves me money on that. I can also understand since League is free to play the only money making they can do is by the in game items (skins, icons, boxes, wards, etc). But, at some point all of this starts to feel more like a shopping client and less like a game client. Yes, we have now TFT, but at the cost of the very well thought out and hard work on the PvE events most the community enjoyed that were true game modes. I came to League of Legends to play AS the champions with different skill caps, kits, and lore; not play them on a board and watch them fight. If I wanted that, I’d just play an AuotChess game. I’m aware it’s a choice, again though, developing focus on TFT sacrifices these events
It’s fun to actually work with other people, friends even, against AI that can’t taunt you even as a first time player or be toxic to while enjoy having fun under a new universe aligned with the skins. It brought something new to the game each time and made the events feel like true EVENTS. The SG felt like I was actually playing through the story with each release of the skin-line, fighting off the alien enemy as one of the SG. The Odyssey event felt like I was part of the team trying to take down Kayn to prevent him from getting Sona. It felt part of these alternate universes, genuine fun and passion behind them. Not EVERY event needs a huge PvE, but it would be great if the focus was less on TFT and more just on these fun games modes. Doesn’t help you earn about jackcrap worth with TFT, some icons and new recolored lands as well emote tokens- Not to say I’m ungrateful, but you have plenty of eggs to off two of the goals to be the eggs and maybe the highest a skin shard. You have plenty of it to go around.
You could at least re-release the modes every few times a year with new goals to earn some rewards, would it be so bad even while working on a new game mode for League of Legends?
—Speaking of Events, New SG— Yes, this a rinse and repeat at this point, but I want to insert my two cents and hopefully with added voice Riot will listen.
It’s the argument I highly disagree with that if they did a Light crtl+5 or chroma for Xayah and Rakan that the Voice lines wouldn’t line up, but the voice lines don’t line up completely for Zoe right Neeko for SG; plus nobody cares as stated by everybody and willing to PAY money for the chroma of the alternate version. Even myself, I’d pay the extra money for the OG forms for Xayah and Rakan a]so I can alternate between the two. People wouldn’t mind if you had to hold off the event another patch or so, because if you’re adding this extra hard work to add this for us then we’d gladly wait to have it. Besides, the Chromas are meant for fun aesthetic purposes, not lore purposes. We can switch to wear the cannon skin anytime we would like and not change anything. Besides, you COULD consider it as the reverse happening- The light alternate them turning into the Anti-SG.
Besides, if you’re This picky about Lore matching, then you need to update the older SG with their reactions seeing Xayah, Rakan, Zoe, and Neeko; so they all line up and don’t seem so awkward with just Xayah and Rakan only saying something. As well update Lux SG, so greatly lacks now compared to the others visually. You need to be consistent. Sew your hard work into the fields and you’ll be greatly rewarded, don’t be lazy like these other companies that become more greedy and don’t give their heart to their players who clearly hold their own out. Just please listen to us, we want it.
—The Money Grab Orbs And Eggs + Enternals— We have the Chests, which don’t even really give us much for skins anymore that are worth to buying them. With the Orbs, they’re about the same. Every time I’ve gotten Orbs and seen YouTubers get Orbs, they didn’t really get anything worth wild within the Orbs even after paying well over ten dollars for them. Which sadly they’ve become the staple for each event as if it’s different each time when buying them. If the Orbs gave higher chance to get skins related to the event or higher chance to matching wards or icons. Sadly they just, aren’t worth it even if they look shiny. I barely ever even get a jackpot bag- Only time was during April Fools, last year.
As for the eggs, I agree with voices on them, they are greedy and money grabbing. I personally would rather earn he levels on my little legend and just Pay for the basically Chromas for them for the ones I want. As somebody who is trying to work for themself I can not expend money to buy the eggs to get what I want for each legend, no matter how cute they are. Just make the levels something to earn, for free, and just have the skins buyable separately- Even have the skin crack open in a small animation from an Egg as if you hatched a new variation of the Little Legend.
Adding this here, the Enternals.
Don’t.
Make it free, not 850RP each, and make it something free for everybody to earn up to since we have to buy the champions anyway, their emotes, their icons, and their skins which usually cost $10- as well just anything else to show off our love for our main or certain champion. Not forget Little Legends Eggs. You’re being greedy in the wrong way Riot, stop it. This WILL backlash against you, even by pros since they are also players. There are better ways to earn money, Ex: Make the Light Chroma for Xayah and Rakan, because we’ll PAY FOR IT.
—Rumored Mobile League of Legends— No.
Bad.
No. Nobody wants this and hope it’s not a legit thing. You saw what happened with Diablo. I just hope your time and effort isn’t being put into this, because it would be better put into the events and making really great skins, heck, into TFT even.
—New champions— Now I don’t see much for opinions on this, but I want to throw this out here. Putting more focus to getting older champions caught up with kit updates and visual updates, while putting new Champions on a back burner until the old champs are updated. I can see how this can get tedious when it comes to come five years later there might need be again, more updates, but think of it like this:
It’s like a story that has a hyper focus on the main character, even when interesting things are happening to the side characters that could be their own chapter. It’s good to take a break. I love Neeko and I love Xayah and Rakan, Zoe was okay, Pyke is pretty badass, but maybe it’s time you just stop making new champions, take a year or two or three to just redo all the older champions. Give a few of them some added new skins, make people play them more often thus more cash flow.
I’m actually tired of seeing new champions, they’re not much hype now, I’d like a lot more older champions to be updated or reworked. Example: I love Sona, I am a support main, but she’s so old and not as reliable anymore it’s hard to win games playing as her. As well, all her skins are OLD. Her model is OLD. Her effects, are OLD. Heck, for Lux you could just update all of her older skins instead of giving her a new skin. I’d appreciate that- maybe update Orianna or give Maokai or Malphite a little update. Amumu himself REALLY needs one for his skins.
Take a break Riot from new champions, just update the older champions and don’t let them go into the dust. ———————— [sg-ahri-2]
This has been my thoughts and opinions as an almost three year player, who has also read and listened to other players views when I spend time to do so. Please, give your players a serious listen to what we are saying and consider a lot of our words. We are always grateful for your hard work, but we can see where things could be better and could be mutual grounds to work on both sides of you and us. Don’t forget that your players is what makes you so successful, please, do not forget us like most companies do.
I am sorry for any typos, I was typing my thoughts as they came on an iPad with my pointer fingers. If there are typos that are serious, where it makes no sense with the sentence, let me know.
