It's like you asking permission to punch someone AS YOU PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE. You swerve into my lane and turn on the blinker halfway in between the lines. That's not going to do jack shit. Blinkers are to give people in front/behind you a heads-up on what you are going to do next so use them properly please.
I always imagine the caption being something like "Oh, by the way..."

I normally turn them on a couple hundred feet before the intended turn, unless there are many possible turns that it could mean, in which case I wait until the exact turn. Other people just decide to brake first and then flip their signal on, and you're sometimes lucky if they even do you that solid!
In some areas, using your blinkers just makes people deliberately move to block you, so no one uses them at all.
I don't think I've ever had a problem with this. Sounds like you have poor reaction times.
What pisses me off is no blinkers.
Actually scratch that, what REALLY pisses me off is when people speed up when you try to pass them in a 2 way highway. Like they're trying to get you killed in incoming traffic.
