How the heck are you supposed to win a game with no range????

It's possible.
Jayce is considered melee. So is Kayle. Just use Jayce as an ADC if you need that range down there. And plenty of melee midlaners have range. Ekko, Zed, Yasuo, etc. Jungle and top are 99% melee anyway so that's not an issue.
That's just a couple examples. There are SO many teams you can make with "melee" champions.
You don't unless you get luck :^)
Actually the best I've thought is to do it with initiators and divers so even if they try to go poke you can just smash their faces in unless they have insanely good disengage.
