Let's say its preseason, I'm in gold 4 with 0 LP and my demotion shield is expiring and I'm losing games in a row. If I dont play for the rest of the preseason will I still stay in gold in time for rank to reset?

What's "demotion shield"?
You are getting demoted only if you don't play ONE game in a month. In preseason (Exactly: After the rewards were gave away) demoting because of not playing ranked isn't a thing. Also, even if you had lost next 2 games you still wouldn't be demoted. Also you get a message from Riot in client when you're about to be demoted - approximately a week before the demotion, so 3 weeks after not attemptign SoloQ games - so don't worry, you'll be fine bud.
