So Riot did that popularity thing lately

And they did a graph showing how popular monster champs were in particular. so here is the graph: https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PeSKdrsp8kE/Wg804o7ynII/AAAAAAAAzd8/_-XJCN0PLRopstZhoNVqE7Z_OTS8BbQ1QCLcBGAs/s1600/LOL_CMS_143_Article_04_pssoxt0n6pdln2ya2jwo.jpg if you didn't see the article, basically vertical is how many games someone plays on a champion and horizontal is how many different players play that champion. Based on this graph they went immediately to thinking that it's because people can't relate to monster champions as well as they relate to humanoids. but they didn't even include Fizz, or mention how popular Hecarim, Rek'sai and others were at one point or another. so I'm just worried they're going to use this bullshit graph to say they won't be making anymore monster champions or something, which is something I have been waiting for for a while.

all of their monster champions just suck, yanno? I was all ready to main aurelion sol but then it turned out his kit was lame.

what's your opinions on why monster champions aren't popular right now?

WOW SKARNER ISN'T POPULAR ITS TOTALLY BECAUSE PEOPLE HATE MONSTERS AND NOT BECAUSE THEY RUINED HIS KIT THREE HUNDRED TIMES

Humanoid champions, especially animu style, get more fan art and cosplays and porn which means more publicity. That's always been my logic. Hell, Xayah got more fan art than several older champions combined since she looks like a teenage OC for example who wouldn't look out of place on a Tumblr or DeviantArt page, and Zoe has more than double the fan art of Ornn and she isn't even out yet.

In most games where non-humans are an option this happens. How many Elder Scroll players go for Argonians?

When you think about it most of the "monster" champions in league are lame/1 dimensional as hell, especially in comparison to their humanoid flashy counterparts like Vayne, Lee, Yasuo etc.

Sounds like we need some hypermobile monster tbh

Why would I wanna relate to a champion? It's way more important if that champion is fun to play and if I can win playing it. If Riot were to buff monster champions their playrate would skyrocket. Hell, my most played champion this season is actually Hecarim.

It feels like they don't have a clue on how to make a non-binary monster. Almost all of them are do well or die hard. Which is a shame, since some of the actual aesthetic for them really looks amazing. On top of that, they have the personality of paper bags. Kog'maw might be an exception, since he's got the void puppy thing going for him but...even then, its pretty bland. You've got champs like Jhin who has some of the most amazing eloquent quotes, with this psychotic sense of superiority to him...how does Kog'maw compare to that?

I think Vel'Koz was a monster champ done right.

I believe they didn't fit the Void archetype as they wanted to be. The void is supposed to be so horrific and terrifying it breaks the mind of any mortals who look into it, yet the monsters that come out are bright colored and do things that are adorable.

I like how Skarner is in the bottom left.

Totally not because they destroyed him or anything.
