Disconnected During Game.. Came Back (WON) and get Negative LP

So had a game this morning that somewhere around 10 minutes in I started to lag real bad (800 ping spikes) then my internet went down and I disconnected.

Turned out it was my computer not the internet so I had to restart.. Took about 7 minutes to come back...

Got back in the game and my team was actually doing well and we went on to win the game. Then I see I get a message "You are ineligible to earn loot due to leaving or AFK behaviors"

Now i get they want to stop AFK players..but this to me does the exact opposite. So if in the future my game crashes... or my internet messes up what reason do I have to even re-connect to the game? Your team always flames you for leaving.. so if your going to get negative LP why come back at all?

Just confused on how this helps the game at all. I could understand not giving LP to someone that disconnected and never came back and their team won 4 to 5. But I was there for about the last 10 minutes of the game..

Maybe I am just looking at this all wrong but I just imagine this will make people who d/c not want to reconnect in the future. Maybe just no LP gain if you come back and get a victory or something but not a -17 LP for a victory.

I understand what your saying but just seems to me it will push more and more people to never reconnect. I mean I've had people Ragequit in the past then come back 5 minutes later after they thought about it. Now I doubt those people will ever come back to a game.

But guess we will see...

You lose LP because you significantly hampered your team's chances of winning, and the majority of disconnects for long periods of time are rarely accidents.

You rejoin and play to the end to avoid punishment.

Yes, people who are absent for a significant portion of the game lose LP regardless of the outcome. It's still good to come back when possible to avoid Leaverbuster.

I'll throw my hat in with the OP.

If you disconnected for a long period of time, and eventually reconnected, and you lost. Then yes, you were probably the catalyst, and are deserving of some punishment.

If you disconnected, reconnected and then won... You clearly demonstrated a willingness to come back and help your team, whereas many could've abandoned the game altogether and still received the same punishment. You also played a role IN winning the game. This is the type of behaviour that should be rewarded or encouraged, not punished. Likely a remnant of Lyte's systems which never really cared for context or positive reinforcement.

I agree with OP. Imagine for a second. Me and a friend have a power fluctuation in our area. He reconnects in 4 mins because he has a monster PC. It takes me 7+ mins because I'm stuck turning league back on. So because he spent more on PC, no issue since he came back quickly.. But I CANT and it's not because I'm more toxic/punishable than he is. Yet I will receive a leaver buster, and he won't. Also agree with server disconnects. If it's the games fault, why is the game punishing me?

Yeah I'm with the OP cause it's kinda bs that if my computer or internet has an issue that I have to resolve or I get a bug that traps me in loading screen that I come back to the game I still get Leavebusters and LP loss. It really should have some checks to tell if someone never got into the game to begin with or actually ragequit you know like if you I don't know actually pressed the button to leave the game![sg-shisa]

Why publish a teammate who helped you win?...

Sure he didn't at first but at the end of the game LP is LP for the winner. Why punish the guy who could've just left you. I hate afks, but what if he disconnected and came back? Why punish him?

Punish those afks who don't comeback. Not the disconnectes who comeback and help you win

Looks like vote trend is on OP side, so I don't even seek for any support, but imho it is still a right thing to do (to deduct lp). I could somewhat agree with you, but how can we know how many lp you would be deducted if you lost ? Maybe the win has already been accounted for. And you lost like 50% (put any %) less lp or stuff like that. If the system works this way, maybe just let people know about that to avoid permanent afk. Afk should still receive negative lp for putting team into high risk of losing. And receive even more for not winning. If it is the way it works, people should be aware of it.

I know this is sort of late but a game of mine occured earlier today where I spent at least 30 mins ingame, got disconnected due to my internet and had to restart my router which took roughly around 5 mins. Came back, my team was still winning, played another 8 mins after and won. Game ends, and I received -19 LP. I don't understand the reason as to how that is "reasonable"

I would recommend building a new pc for relatively cheap with the OS being on an SSD or at least reinstall your OS to get rid of programs that could be affecting your computer like viruses, trojans. 7 minutes is a long time to reset and connect back to league.

You could also update your router and check on your security settings, like for the wifi.

They should probably not be eligible for more than 3 lb gain but a gain none the less.

Frankly what is considered a long time in this game to reconnect excceds base times for doing things like realizing that your game didnt load and isnt gonna load ive been in loading screens for 8 minutes and its still loaded into the game but i cant tell if its gonna load or not and been in loading screeds for 3 minutes where i then dc and have to reload into a game that has already been remade. The client is bad at telling you when you arent gonna get into the game. Then there is also having to restart the computer thats no less than a 4 minute task ignoreing figureing out you need to restarting internet varys but boot up time for any interent modem ive seen stretches between 45 seconds and 2 minutes and thats after giving the modem some time to not fry it.
