Why do low skill supports do this?

Walk to the dragon area of river and not place or clear any ward before going back to lane every single time?

i don't understand this but it gets me killed every so often when i assume i have a functioning human being coming to lane to help me duel any second

Maybe they're checking for honeyfruit?

I haven't seen this before, but then again, I play support. I will do things like pop a W in the pit or in the river bush and pop back. My counter-question would be why do ADCs seem to only want to engage a 2v when I am not right there to back them up? :P

Could be checking if the enemy jungler is there when their ward isn't up (or when they think they can save it), could be checking if the scuttle crab is still there, could be trying to fake out the enemy team into thinking they're warding, could be trying to fake out the enemy team into thinking they're roaming Mid, could be thinking about roaming Mid but then realize the opportunity will pass before they get there.

Not saying any of those are the best options, but it could be any number of reasons.

tbh im too scared sometimes to even bother walking up that far with how fast people can oneshot you, but more often then not its cause:

Nami *leaves lane once to ward dragon for less then 2.75 seconds

Vayne An Ally Has Been Slain

Vayne /all report this nami, always leaving lane

Hmm.. It depends. Most of the time when I go to dragon pit as a support, I'm actually warding. When I go there and do not ward / clear wards, it's to pretend like I actually did ward. I do this when I know the enemy support has not warded there.

My idea behind this is:

  1. Make them believe it's warded and we'll possibly get a gank soon - Maybe enemy adc and support will back off a bit.
  2. Make them tell their jungler / mid it's warded, either to discourage enemy jungler / mid from ganking.
  3. Make someone waste a pink ward trying to find my ward which was never placed.
  4. Have enemy support sweep / go ward as well and maybe me and my adc can make a play on enemy adc
  5. Sometimes I'm actually just checking if scuttle is still there to see who is controlling that area before pinging for (hopefully) a dragon slaying.

TLDR: Basically a psychological move, at least for me.

My favorite support dumbassary involving the river is this: we're doing fine in lane, as long as everybody's there I'm matching/outdoing the other adc in cs. Then my support for no reason walks around into the river, the other duo gets to zone me off the cs while my support walks into the enemy duo from the flank thinking that somehow that will get us a good 2v2 as opposed to him ending up in the middle of the enemy and all their minions in a split position where if we were to go for the stupid fight they could just decide who to engage on.

The usual way this plays out is that I'm pinging the brain dead moron back and position away from the enemy duo to indicate clearly that we will not 2v2, he walks in anyway, dies and then blames me.
