I want to know how Riot's algorithm for match-making functions. No, seriously. This is stupid.

So, I hopped on the EUW server to play some soloq ranked. I usually play on KR (and Garena singapore, if that even matters).

As you can look at the final scoreboard, I kept farming kills, invaded kaisa and put far behind (and almost removed her from the game), and at the same time, my laners were leaking the gold lead that I single-handedly built up, by solo-dying 1v1 to their laners over and over. I didn't say a single word. I kept playing. Instead of flaming team, I kept telling them what to do, but they didn't listen to any of my pings and calls and were completely clueless throughout the game. The end result is what you see on that scoreboard. I can't carry 4 clueless players and 1v5 because you get one shot by everything even though you have 150+ armour, thanks to Riot's stupid damage creep (well that's a different topic that I don't want to talk about)

I looked at the profiles of all the other 9 players, and I couldn't believe what I saw.

All four players on my team were autofilled, and the enemy team were all on their main roles (except pyke).

I didn't blame my team for the loss, because I know how it feels to play on an off-role. When you're losing on off roles, your brain shuts off and you just feel like quitting and moving on to the next game.

I want to know how the match-making algorithm functions, what are the rules and constraints it follows while deciding the players that should be put together in a team. Because having FOUR autofilled players in a single team is absolutely ridiculous. This scenario is only possible in challenger-master or diamond where there are a few thousand players, but getting 4 autofills in a team IN GOLD ELO is just plain stupid. Look at that jungle gap. I have nearly TWICE the kill participation than that of kaisa. But I guess I'm not allowed to win because I GET FOUR AUTO-FILLS. IN A GOLD GAME.

Fix your match-making algorithm OR give players an option to choose whether they are fine with getting autofilled or not. This is so dumb it actually hurts my brain.

Hey man I know how you feel, we all get these kinds of games, but you really should OP.gg your teams before the match starts and dodge if your team is bad, even if you already dodged and it's -10 LP, the LP doesn't matter what you really want is to keep your MMR and not let it tank because people first timed a champion in ranked.

If you want my two cents, dodge if 2+ people are autofilled, and if you see someone first time a champion and it's your first dodge of the day then just lose the 3 LP, you basically get one free dodge a day, I will not hesistate at all to dodge to lose 3 lp in exchange for keeping my MMR, unless your teamates have high winrates or something it isn't worth risking.

Unless you are like a Diamond player smurfing in gold the only way to climb with really high winrates (I see you are good with Master Yi) is to be willing to dodge when things take a turn, if you dodge right and play well, your MMR will remain stable and you can start skipping divisions.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but there really is no other way to get around it, you either take it right up the ass, or ditch the team wait 6 min and hopefully find a better team, if your sole purpose is climbing... dodge... if your sole purpose is to play... then play, you will get wherever you want to be in the long run but one requires more time in game and the other spends more time playing the games that matter.

Anyway hope that helps.

How can you tell they were autofilled? Is it actually shown somewhere, or are you going by what roles they played in their match history?

I feel like there should be an icon or something to identify autofilled games in the match history (not during the game, though).

...because Que-times. To save a minute in matchmaking they often randomize players. Even though constantly the game is decided by that alone in lobby. There's no worse feeling then getting a full autofilled team.

For some odd reason players want fast times vs balanced matchmaking. Everytime I say I'd rather wait an extra two minutes for balanced games I get told off by players saying they don't want to wait.

I mean maybe the game wouldn't have so many one sided matches if they had a proper matchmaking system. Heck, I know some games have a option to click that allows you to wait longer for more accurate matches.

4 people autofilled makes no sense and can't be right

How are you determining they were auto filled and did not in fact just select a different role than they normally play? If four people are auto filled, then it would make no sense because there's no way that two of those four couldn't have in fact just had their roles, while the other two filled different auto fill roles. It's just a simple math problem that wouldn't make any sense...four people auto filled by definition means two people are auto filled into someone's primary where that person is also pointlessly auto filled. I doubt this was actually the case.

Its rigged. Riots algarithm is purposefully trying to keep you at a 50% win ratio. It achieves it moastly stacking the odds completely against you if you are above and stacks it in favor when you are below.

Unless you have the relexes of a cheat engine like lets say qtpie or faker you are never ever going to beat the system.

Its just a game of trying to beat thw algarithm. Nothing more.
