URF has become incredibly unfun
I have been playing this game since season 2 so I have seen many many many URF's come and go. URF used to be a fun mode where everyone picked high damage and run around the map one shotting one another for 25 minutes until one team has 60 kills and could end.
Now URF has just become this boring, repetative, joyless shell of its former self.
Its not even so much about ARURF. I understand Riots methods and as dumb as some people might think they are, I particularly enjoy the random method to keep from people abusing the same champion over and over and over again nonstop. The biggest problems in URF come in the form of 3 things. Items, summoner spells, and split pushing.
Tanks have always had a very special spot in Riot games heart. Explains why every now and again we have a dreaded tank meta. But for a game mode that is supposed to be about having fun, tanks or tank items in general, make the mode boring. Its so common to see now an Ornn on the enemy team with 6 full tank items being able to spam high damage spells while taking little to no damage because of the very balanced gold gain in URF. Unless you have a Vayne by the grace of God, you better expect to lose your game once the tank hits 6 items because there is literally no stopping it. There should be a much limited number of tank items to keep these brainless champions from literally meatshielding while at the same time being the hell out of everyone on your team. There is very little counter play to it and its just incredibly boring.
The second point would be summoner spells. If anyone remembers the Blood Moon game mode, (bring back blood moon btw), if I recall correctly you could only bring flash ignite. Same really should go for URF. Having exhaust, barrier, and heal on such an insanely low cooldown its incredibly frustrating. How fun is it to be 10 kills ahead of someone but lose a 1v1 because they brought exhaust? Oh that Lux spamming spells? Barrier on a short cool down. How about this Cait who is already unbalanced sitting in the back of the map? Heal every 15 seconds. Those summoner spells make it so boring to play against and you see them EVERY SINGLE GAME. I miss the days of ignite or tp all the time because no one played like a coward and actually would upfront fight you. Im not saying take those SS out completely. But increase the cooldown of them so its not impossible to kill someone every time you walk up to them.
Lastly, the most disgusting thing in URF. Split pushing. I understand split pushing in a normal or ranked game. But split pushing in URF? How sad is your life? It literally cannot be fun to sit in a side lane in URF and do nothing for 20 minutes but farm. If you truly and honestly find that fun, please reach out and contact me I will personally pay for your psychiatric because you more than likely have severe social anxiety to push yourself to do something like this. Its so unfun to deal with all the time.
If those 3 main problems were addressed, maybe then people would actually enjoy playing URF. The play rate of URF has gone down in the past and its clear that it will continue on that trend until no one wants to play it any longer. Fix the mode before its too late.
