Should Riot allow players to dust owned skins into orange essence?

Currently, we are able to dust skin shards into orange essence but when we want to craft a skin, it requires quite alot of orange essence and the only way to obtain that additional orange essence is to dust shards. However many players who have been playing league for a long time have seen the game and its champions undergo quite a number of changes and reworks. We may own skins for champions we once thought were great/fun. However after undergoing reworks, it may have become a redundant champion that we do not play anymore, and therefore the skin goes unused for years. How about a new option where we are able to dust currently owned skins into orange essence. This would help old players gain new skins more easier as we may own more of the skins and have many lying around not being used. Riot consistently harps on about rewarding loyal league fans but i honestly don't really see any action showing any motion towards that.

This would not harm Riot's profits in anyway as

  1. It would be dusting orange essence which is not possible to buy using RP and not refunding RP.
  2. To be able to obtain a skin shard that we want, we have to open chests that would either give us a champion shard or a skin shard. And we all know the drop rate of key fragments is just completely abysmal. And require 3 key fragments to open a chest.

This would be a great way for Riot to honor its "promise" towards us and still not cost them much monetary loss in profit.
