I chose runes over champions, as most smart people did at the time, and benefited greatly. I do not want to own all the champions. There is no point in owning so many champions if you're not going to play them a lot.

Rewards? You get ip... or BE as they're going to be called from now on. It's not a big deal. Also, most people are bitching because they spent money of runes instead of champions and want a full refund.
I bought runes and champions. I got everything that I wanted and nothing's going to change. I got years of use out of my runes and I feel like I got my money's worth. I'm another veteran that doesn't see what the big deal is all about.
IMO, if you own more than 20 champs you have no reason to complain. You can already play whatever you want, and even though it's not a full refund you're getting even more... BE.. to buy even more champs. Also, IMO if you've got less that 20 champs then you can't really call yourself a veteran of this game.

Urfwick and other very rare skins will be available to those who hoarded IP like there was nothing to spend it on. Those are some pretty insane rewards

He didn't really though. He said he prioritized getting the runes he needed over having a ton of champions, but that's what most people did anyways. He's got a ton of ip, and he's trying to brag about it, but anyone who's been playing the game as long as him would have the same.
Reading between the lines for an insult that probably doesn't even involve you (buying champs without bothering to buy runes) over an issue that doesn't even have anything to do with what's going on is just letting him soft troll you.

Mysticman891 votesIt's not necessarily about saving ones one trick, but being able to grab OPs and/or counter picks.
And besides, after you've got a full rune page for whatever champs you do use, it's not like you need IP for anything else. Maybe keep like 10k as a float in case of new champs that excite you and the occasional event sales for ip (usually just icons available for ip), but beyond that you may as well collect champs/runes. The former has trading value, and while the latter doesn't offer much practical benefit, they can be fun to screw around with weird rune builds (full gold gen/full move speed and so on can be an adventure).

It is not too wise to buy a counterpick for rarely played champions.
Mysticman891 votesThey might be lower priority, but surely it can only be a good thing to be prepared, for those rare occasions when you do find one of those people who mains an obscure champ and counter picking them might be important. Plus the meta swings all over the place over the course of several seasons, so you can be prepared even on patch day 1 wihen the new powerhouses are emerging.
If you options for your IP are to get no value out of it, or to get a small amount of value out of it, sensible money is on doing the latter.
Even if you happened to be a time traveler and could foresee the BE store, if we're talking about wise decisions, then spending on cosmetics when theres any potential non-zero amount of gameplay value to be had isn't rational anyway.
Skins Project1 votesYo dude if u have 300k you can bet with hextech crafting. It costs 1.7k for a champ shard, if the shard you get out has a disenchant value of over ~262 you gain more essence!

It seems silly to give people BE for IP when there is a current method that will net you more BE.
