Bard Broken E Spell (What just happened)

I was just playing one of my first few Bard games, which I am still learning him properly, but I had a J4 ult my team and to try to escape, I tried using E just to see what would happen. And well, check out the video - I apparently used my E spell but it went into the base instead of where I was standing. Is that normal or did I just have a weird incident happen?

Bard can't put a portal through champion created terrain. This includes stuff like J4 and Taliyah Ultimates. The cast range is rather large though and you happened to hit a legit target with it, so you made a portal through your base walls.
