Possibly an issue with MMR and/or matchmaking?

Before writing this, I did some reading around and found that I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm just wondering, what's up with League's matchmaking?

Two or three weeks ago, I hit level thirty on my main account and was pretty excited to start playing with full runes and masteries and all that good stuff. But once I got to thirty, I immediately started bombing almost every game I played. Looking at my match history, of my most recent eighteen games (this goes right up to my first game as thirty), twelve were losses and two of my victories were against bots (because sometimes you just need an easy win, y'know?) and I went negative fourteen times.

Yeah, this sounds like I just suck, I understand, so at first I just thought it was a rut. But it's been going on for weeks and I'm beginning to think that there's an issue here. Most of these games I've been put against mid to high division silvers (which isn't much, but I've never even played ranked before so that's too much for me) and I really think that there's something up with my MMR. Even my buddy has been doing pretty bad lately and he's a really good player, so I'm confused on this. My temporary solution for this has been to ask everyone in the game to report me for being unskilled so I can get that adjustment I need. The thing is, I don't know if it's working because I have no idea how many people (if any at all) are actually doing it for me. Could there possibly be an issue? Was everyone's MMR reset for the new season? What can I do to try to enjoy playing this game when I just get my ass kicked back-to-back?

I will literally take anything here.

Congrats on getting to level 30! You don't suck! well... you do, but its not a bad thing. When you first start playing you will think that when you get to level 30, you are ready to play with the world. To be honest this is such a false hope. There is a major skill gap, this can have someone who started playing 2 months ago, getting matched with someone who has played for a year or two. Clearly the person who has been playing longer(in most cases) will be much better than you, just from playing more games and having more personal experience. When you get to level 30, I very highly doubt you have a few full rune and mastery pages, just because you most likely haven't earned the IP that fast. This can also make a huge issue, although both players are level 30 and can play together, one player could have multiple Rune and Mastery pages full and ready to go. Another issue with that would be champion pools, there is a better chance of the 2 month player having his familiar champs banned/taken and getting stuck with a champ they don't know/don't have rune pages for.

A smart plan for Riot could be to maybe try and take games played into account during MMR. Or. Creating extra leveling, still you would be able to start ranked at level 30, but the levels could still go up to 50 or 100, which could also possibly make it easier to determine how much experience players have and match them accordingly. Just ideas.

Also, I would guess that after this weekend you might see league become a little more fun again, maybe winning more games. I feel there are a lot of kids on Christmas break playing some league on their free time, not dissing all kids, but there are a lot of kids that play league of legends that are on a different maturity level. I have noticed the number of flamers, "top or feed"-ers, trolls/afks, auto lockers etc. has been higher than usual since about when kids would start Christmas break. Hopefully things might get a little bit more back to normal after this weekend. Good luck and have fun!

This happened to me when I first hit 30 too. Your mmr gets a boost when you hit 30. No more noobs anymore, getting matched with people that have played hundreds more games than me. It did take a while to adjust, but rest assured that it does adjust on its own. And I got better.
