The argument that LoL rates you as an individual based on the performance of your team is absolutely indisputable. Because that it literally exactly what it does. Which means that you are basically only 20% responsible for the result of the game, while suffering 100% of the consequences. No, it's not fair, not in the least. But it's also impossible to avoid.
That comments on the link you posted think that this version of the elo system is valid and that very few people would have skewed results.
