Can I make another morde thread?

If there is another discussion like this I appologize. And would greatly appreciate a link over to it.

I play a ton of morde, and like most I am very excited for the rework. I have a list of items that I think will make him pop.

Gunblade (still) -slow lifesteal/spell vamp ap/AD Rage blade (new) hybrid damage, sick passive Ghost blade (new) great to hunt down and maul after you slow Botrk (new) self explanatory Infinity edge (new) Morde needs crit right!? Titanic hydra (will be released same time as morde update) HP on new morde will be very beneficial and this item turns hp into damage Frozen mallet (new) AD rylais + Ton of Hp Spirit visage (was situational) --make his heals spell vamp and life steal pop more

Also a support that use zekes harbringer/ardent sensor Will bring it all home.

Some of the best supports for him in my opinion will be galio, Leona, naut, blitz, and zilean (for even more extra experience)

Thoughts? Items to add? Disagreements? Input wanted.

Hey HistoricalPoo. I've played a bit of new Morde on PBE, and I've been posting around about it. Figured someone had to advocate for it a little. Bear in mind this is all from the position of bot lane Morde.

  • First off, I'd like to say that Spell Vamp and Life Steal are no longer necessary or heavily desired stats. You can skip Gunblade all together 100%, but it isn't awful if you get it later on.
  • Ghostblade can work, but the armor pen feels slightly wasted since all of his spelldamage is magical.
  • Botrk also seems good on paper, but mordekaiser has insane scaling, so I think he needs a bit more raw stats than this. Definitely workable though.
  • Infinity Edge I really disagree with. Not worth while at all. *Titanic Hydra seems like a very good option for top lane, if he ends up being workable there. *Frozen Mallet is workable, but very expensive.
  • Visage is going to be a very good anti-AP buy, I agree, but more for the CDR and W heal than the spell vamp and life steal.

In my opinion, you see Morde as a Hybrid leaning on AD, like a Jax, which I feel is very inaccurate. He is more Hybrid leaning on AP, like the game as never really seen before, at least for as long as I've played(I don't count Akali, as she is still mostly magic damage). You also seem to be discounting Mordekaiser's HP scaling a bit too much. New Mordekaiser will always do a lot of damage, with a level 18 Q base damage of ~1371, due to basic attacks and total AD scaling, across all 3 attacks. Because of this, I think his best build will be Trinity Rylai's, which provides insane sticking power, and hybrid damage, putting his Q at ~2200 mixed damage, split nearly evenly across both damage types, and a higher change of getting all 3 attacks off. After that you can go tank, or some more tanky/damage items, because at that point, you don't really need more damage, and the more HP you build, the bigger your shield will become, and the slower it will decay.

The point is for Mordekaiser to replace the ADC, not become one, ya dig? He's presently, as far as I can see, a hybrid bruiser bot lane carry. I agree with your support choices. I'd like to add Nami to the list, seeing as her movespeed buff is getting buffed and she adds a slow to Morde's autoattacks and can lock someone down for a good amount of time so as to let morde Q them in lane.

Could Morgana work as a support?

you can, but riot won't let anything about this topic stay on the front page unless it's a certainlyT ass kissing thread with a bunch of fucking douches posting in it.

I've watched some PBE vid's on morde's new kit and they did a good job imo im gonna have lots of fun and i was (still will be hopefully) be a morde main.

the changes to his ult allowed them to pump damage somewhere else (you need to kill champs in order to get the ghost)and his new mace of spades with the right team play has sick amounts of damage. personally i think i will be building something along the lines of this item 3111 item 3116 item 3742 item 3146

My take on Morde's build is this

If you have a reliable team build:

item 3146 item 3078 Sterak's Gage item 3065 item 3742 item 3111

If you have an unreliable team build or the team has far to many wall hoppers / dashes:

item 3146 item 3078 item 3116 item 3742 item 3065 item 3111

Full AD Team swap out merc for Tabi and visage for raudins.

Full AP swap out dead man for abyssal and Sterake Gage for Rylais.

The first build should make sure you have well over 500 movespeed while roaming with another champion. And 40% cdr will mean your speed boost only has a CD of 4.8 seconds.

If your team either lacks CC or there is simply to much mobility to combat them by running at high speed Rylais comes in. Build one should be higher dps and more survivability however. The gage alone with proc a shield that is over 1000 at full build and make Morde Base AD 210 meaning very hard hitting trinity force hits.

Runes

For my preference I would use runes to solve my CDR itemization woes, add scaling defense, or both.

9 flat attack red, scaling armor yellows, 15% cdr over time blues, 15% cdr over time quints. That's 30% cdr( spirit visage takes this to 40% end game), 9 attack for last hitting early, and 27 extra armor.

9 flat attack reds, scaling armor yellows, scaling Mr blues, 15% cdr over time. That's 15% cdr ( +15% from ionion boots and +10% from visage for 40% CDR, but no more 35% tenacity from merc), 27 extra armor, 27 extra MR which lets you drop the merc treads with no real change.

Masteries

I find masteries to be the most interesting point of discussion. Since morde can once again spec hybrid, is melee, and he utilizes both sources of damage he can gain the highest % damage modifier the offense tree offers. That is a potential 13% increased melee damage and magic damage against any champion at 50% health or lower. Also the 5% bonus stat from AD and AP scale 1x, 3, and 9x making them far more valuable than on other champions due Mace of Spades.

That is just the offense tree however. Morde's Q allows his to do well over 1k damage with only 1 damage item mid to late game. At some point damage reaches a thresh hold where adding more is superfluous. Morde may very well benefit from higher scaling defenses the Defense tree offers instead of the Offense tree.

Lastly the Support tree allows morde to cut out 10% CDR( support + offense synergy) from his itemization, increase his gold per second and per attack(bandit procs), and reduced item cooldowns by 20%. Morde new builds may very well include 3 or more items with cooldowns. He could be saving a lot of time between activations if he uses the 20% item reduction passive.

Conclusions

Mordes build will adapt solely on the ability of his team to work together and secure targets. If his team is unreliable in that function he needs to itemize into securing kills. He benefits a great deal from hybrid items and items that offer damage + health. All of his defensive items should come with health now as it synergizes with his shield. Attack speed is no longer a functional stat for him past 1 attack a second and this is achieved after simply buying a triforce. CDR is Morde highest DPS stat much like now where CDR out weighs penetration in any fight that lasts past 3 seconds. 40% CDR should be a goal for a majority if not all builds in my opinion.
