When is Riot going to flip the red team's camera?

How Do You Meta··29 votes·2,294 views

People have been asking for this since Beta in 2009 when it was called the purple team.

People who are telling me that Riot can't do it because of lack of technology/their code sucks/server space or whatever excuses they can think of for Riot are the absolute worst as well, those kinds of people are denying improvements for this game because they are actually believing that Riot can't accomplish something Smite did since it's release. Don't speak on the behalf of a company that you don't work for telling me that they can't accomplish something and use that as an argument on why we can't have a flipped camera.

When it won't require a massive amount of server space to have 2 games playing for the same match, with the servers have to mirror and calculate the exact same game in reverse.

If smite can do it so can Riot, don't give up so easily and accept anything less

YK how vastly different Leagues engine and map are to smite right?

If you can eat apple skins, why can't you eat orange peels?

camera angles are a lot less complicated than that, what would need to be changed is how hit boxes work, currently they are roughly a circle that exists on the champions model. however this is a 2d circle that exists in a 3d space. flipping the perpective to the otherside would mess with where the hit box lines up with the model.

It doesn't need to have that much server space... You just need to flip it on the computer. It's the code that matters, not the stupid server you are talking about.

The map wasn't made for two camera angles like that.

Seriously if you look at some of the fan videos and such that unlocked the camera to get close up direct views of champions, you can see that only half of the wall pieces actually have skin. the other half just let's you peek down into the black void beneath the map.

That's because when the map was remade, it was only taken into consideration what the camera would normally see. Obviously, if there would be touchups to finish those empty spaces and complete the map.

That would seriously impact the optimization that came with remade map. The reason for those holes in the mesh isn't just to save time and money, it's also to save graphics processing; after all, your graphics card doesn't have to figure out whether or not to draw a poly, behind and above what other polys, or whether or not to add any post-processing effects on the poly, if that poly just flat-out doesn't exist.

Considering Riot's spaghetti coding that sounds like something that would completely break the game.

itis not about breaking the game it is about consistency and confusion because the difference between top and bot is pretty important and people might go to dragon when they mean to go to baron etc

youhave no idea what you are talking about it would just need one game the camera is just a rendering of sorts

the old map maybe I have heard the new rift is modelled from every angle

Captain Aishi2 votes

you heard wrong then because the new map isn't technically 3d modeled at all. They did that to cut polygons that the old map actually had (old map was 3d modeled) in order to upgrade the visual quality without increasing the performance requirements for computers to run it

Could also roate the map like 45 degrees. Mid lane would go perfectly horizontal. Other option (ideally) would be to allow full rotation, with presets (for current, 180 degree flip), and also vertical-axis flip. It's absolutely possible to be done. After the new Client launches and has all the features being worked on they want to add in, I would hope the actual game client would get the next overhaul, to allow these sorts of things. The in-game client could use so many QoL boosts. No-delay spectator mode in custom games would be great to have as well.

Delay in Spectator Mode is actually not unreasonable because what you would end up happening is people can spectate live games and feed information to their friends about where the enemies are or where the wards are. Unless you want people to not have full vision of the map for the enemy team they are not spectating but then it would be pretty restricted.

They said no delay in custom games. Custom is the important word here. So people can have big in house tournaments and watch in spectator mode and not have a delay for example. It's a good request tbh, I hope they add it

Oh ok my bad.

It would also likely be a room creation option, disabled by default. But yeah, the reason was for exactly with Lilly May had mentioned for,

It's not happening btw. If it was going to, they would have already done it.

I honestly don't know why people want this. Can I get an explanation?

WoonStruck2 votes

There's literally no reason outside of not taking the effort to unlock your camera.

I think the biggest issue that most League players won't see is that skillshots and ability interaction will look REALLY weird. Because of the way that hitboxes are 2d even though the game world is 3d it's going to reveal a lot of flaws in the way that the skillshots are coded in regards to the camera angle at the present time. I think Riot will be pushed to clean-up 'the other side' for an opposite camera to be implemented without having bugged looking skillshot effects. I don't know if Riot did or did not design the maps in a way that can account for multiple camera angles as well. Unless we get a confirmation from a Rioter that they are building a system for Red Team camera then I wouldn't have thought that they designed all the maps to also have interesting features on the opposite side. Kind of like the way news reporters on the desk can just wear underwear and we wouldn't know.

People who say that as an "excuse" was only saying what will most likely happen, not what they hope would happen.

Expectations versus reality, brah.

No they just want to roll over and not ask for anything out of Riot because they have no expectations and want to continue living the life of a bystander.

We also believed that Riot would never relocate the West Coast Server either and it happened, just only had to wait a couple of years.

why is this needed? just unlock your camera not hard

Same reason they won't add scenery to the map (how cool would it be to play on a snow covered map in the winter)
