Mana Regen

I was checking out the mana-regen changes for the jungle, when I started running into a bigger concern. To develop mana-regen, there's not really many options, right? Morellos, ROA, Abyssal Mask, GLP Frost item, and that's it for non support champs. All of the others have specific, ability based, passive and active effects. You need heals or shields to take advantage of the numerous other mana-regen items, or risk running a really inefficient build path. I think we need some new mage items for mana-regen, not geared towards the support role. I'd even be willing to go so far as to say those items could offer less damage, in an attempt to balance the resource. Pretty sure Scarra is the one that talks about how bad it feels to play Amumu because of his dependence on mana. Not really the meta pick, but Cho in the jungle suffers much of the same issue. His new updates might fix his problem though. The boost to mana-regen in the jungle with junglers items, feels like nothing changed. It's like an extremely poor version of Eve's Shadow Walk passive or Lissandra's passive. I was thinking, instead of trying to pair mana-regen with snowballing and supporting, it could move to the utility side of the game. Such as:

  1. Landing multiple spells in a short period of time amplifies the damage on a single target
  2. Or Every third successful spell that lands on an enemy champion would create an AP empowered attack, that doesn't do bonus damage, but instead siphons the enemy's mana towards you
  3. Or Increased mana-regen under allied turrets
  4. Or something like "recharging" where you regen mana at a higher rate after taking damage from an enemy champion (Not like the current enemy damage converting to Mana with a few of the items, but more along the lines of an item that would do for Mana what Garen's passive does for his health
  5. Or an item that increases mana-regen while near a "marked" ally or enemy
  6. Or gain a mana cost reduction when damaging enemy champions the are afflicted with status effects
  7. Or in contrast to #6, reduce mana cost to enemies that currently possess buffs.

Just a few ideas to throw around, but I really would like to see more diversity in mana-regen items.
