ARAM: Underutilized

ARAM matches on The Howling Abyss map could appeal to a wider summoner pool. The Howling Abyss map, on the frozen bridge, is very similar to Top Lane on Summoner's Rift. The bushes match the topside bushes in Top Lane. It stands to reason that this map would be great for the practice tool, especially for Top Laners, and those trying to test their skills by 1v5 against bots. The problem? Item sets on ARAM are really different from the other two maps. If I want to practice against bots in The Howling Abyss, I have to use the items allocated to this map only. Because there's no way around map specific items, practicing here is pointless. I think ARAM should make available all of the items in the game, while using the Practice Tool. This map is perfect for learning how to team-fight early, initiate a team-fight, or isolate a primary target while in team-fights. Given the appropriate items for Summoner's Rift would further the benefits of The Howling Abyss map.

Why not just playing SR in the top lane... what is life...

You're right. We could all do that for sure. As a matter of fact, I use the "Practice Tool" a lot. The problem isn't that doing what you said is bad, it's that there's more control and less to manage. The other lanes while using the tool on SR have minion aggro sometimes win in about 17 mins. I don't want to blink to other lanes and shove or reset all the minions every time or start over as the lanes push. We could get a much more consolidated, focused practice round with one lane and the potential to have all the enemy champions in said lane. No matter how many bots you add to practice on SR map, they won't lane together. On the Howling Abyss map, the enemy has to lane together. Practicing with a champ, then slowly adding bots and trying to look for pics as an Assassin, or finding the all-in time as a tank, or kiting as a Marksman. The draw is control, not only over the entire map's resources, but your difficulty level too. I think it's the best map for this kind of controlled practice scenarios.

I might be blanking here, but do you mean customs? If so, there's a significant downside to enabling non-Abyss items, namely that custom ARAM games (e.g. between friends) would have different conditions to regular ARAM games.

Absolutely! That's why I think there should be an option to use the Practice Tool on ARAM. In the tool box for controlling the map's minions you could control items available. When making a "Custom Game" with friends, this option isn't offered.
