Its the delay or whatever between when you hit a command, and it actually happens.

Honestly from 8-50 is un-noticable.

The closer you are to the servers then the lower your ping will be. So if you play on NA servers then the closer you are to Chicago then the lower your ping is. I get around 33 :b, and back when the NA servers were in Cali or whatever i would get around 77.

(Obviously lower ping is better) :)

80 and below is basically the same thing. Anything over 130 is when the lag starts to get noticeable.

From what I know, ping is the delay between clicking a button and the action happening on the screen (Like right-clicking and then your character moves). It's measured in ms (millseconds). So 100 ping is 100 ms which is 0.1 seconds. This means there is a 0.1 second delay between the button-press and the action happening. This delay is caused by the physical distance between your computer and Riot's server in Chicago, because the signal takes time to reach the server and return to your computer.

The lowest I've ever played on is 90. My usual is 130. On NA server I get 200. Here's what I feel: 200 is terrible, can't pick cards on Twisted Fate easily, and skillshots miss a lot more. 120 is fine. It's not great, but it's manageable after some time. I managed to get to Diamond 4 on this ping. 90 is amazing. I got to play with 90 during a vacation in another country. It feels incredible.

Conclusion: going from 200 to 120 is VERY noticeable. Going from 120-90 is noticeable. I assume that below 90 there is noticeable difference, but not a huge amount.

I'm not an expert on this stuff, feel free to correct me if anything I said in the first paragraph is wrong :)

I've noticed a difference between 20-30 ms and 90.At 20-30 you can dodge skillshots easier

I play with 16 ping used to play with 100+ ping, it's a pretty big difference.

I had around 70 ping for the first 3 years I played and I never noticed any drawbacks or anything. I thought it was a great ping. Then we updated our internet and now I have about 26 ping when nobody else is home. But as soon as my brother opens google chrome the ping jumps up to 120, and when he plays any game that requires internet it reaches over 9000. I'm not even kidding. It actually does.

Anywho, I have a really hard time playing at 70 ping now even if I don't have lags. I just feel like I'm a little bit too slow and I miss a lot more skill shots.
