Explain Vel'Koz buff?

Can someone explain why he got buffed?

He was already good IF you were good at him.If you could get kills and got fed he was already deleting and 1 shotting people. His ult isn't hard at all for the damage it does.

Now Vel is doing damage and still 1 shotting my adc's or squishy's when he was 2/8.Why the fuck do champions keep doing damage for feeding their ass off?

Can you explain to me how a 11/6 fizz does 18k damage while the 2/8 vel does 22k damage? 18k to 22k?????? he had 113cs at 28 min so it's not like he farmed his ass off.

he also did more damage than their camille who was 12/7.Again HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN.

His last 2 kills were at the very end of the game.So he was 2/8.Check my last game if you want proof.

Riot fix your shit game.Just because you can't be braindead to do damage does not mean the champ is weak.Vel was perfectly fine not to mention do literally sits and the back to do all the damage. There no reason to buff him, now you can feed and still do damage???????????????? Why does his Q half health anyone when he is 2/8?????

I can explain. Before I explain, you should know anecdotal evidence is unreliable when it comes to whether or not the champion is balanced so I'm not even going to bother looking into your claim. The best non biased way to argue for a champion's state of balance is by using statistics.

Vel'Koz received a buff because he was statistically underpowered. If you used op.gg, velkoz had a 46% winrate and about a 1% playrate before the buff and if you used champion.gg, velkoz had a 48-49% winrate with a 1.1% playrate. Statistically this made him underpowered which is why he received a buff.

However as a velkoz main I do not know why riot simply gave more damage to his q. I, as well as many other velkoz mains, wanted riot to buff his e suspension duration.

I usually don't care about general winrates but his winrate dropped 4% from 8.12 -> 8.13 even though there were no direct changes to him or any items he uses. When the general winrate drops that much in one patch I do believe it means the champion lost a lot of power that patch. So I don't think general winrates are important in a vacuum. I think they're important when you look at the change from one patch to the next.

I didn't think it was the right buff but his winrate jumped back to 50% this patch so who knows maybe it was. I need to actually play this patch and see for myself.

Also, to address this ridiculous comment:

Why does his Q half health anyone when he is 2/8?????

They buffed the AP ratio, not the base. So the only way this would happen is if Vel'koz got a lot of farm and just happened to die 8 times too. In case you didn't realize it, any champion that gets a lot of farm can still be powerful despite number of deaths. Pay attention to your opponents' CS and items.

Another way that can happen is if he died a bunch of times early and then he got 2 kills on fed enemies. The bounty can be as high as 1k gold now. Don't blame the champion, blame the bounty system that was recently changed.
