What champion were you in this scenario? You're going to have a hard time against him as any melee champ other than Jax and a few niche picks.
Some words of wisdom from a Darius main :)
He is very predictable, try to bait out his E. And do not fight him unless he already uses it. Next, know that as soon as he (if hes decent) gets in melee range he will typically autoattack you once then reset with W and slow you. Finally, understand that his Q is probably his most important ability in the laning phase as it gives him a fair amount of waveclear and ALL of his sustain. Try to dodge his Q at ALL times early on because any damage that you did to him before that will get mitigated by the heal if he lands it.
Never under any circumstances let him hit you 5 times because it gives him a large steroid at 5 stacks. This usually means E + basic attack & W reset + basic + basic + basic + Q.
Bait his E, dodge his Q and you can win the trade.
