I think it is incredibly frustrating to a lot of people going through promo games to find someone being autofilled into a role that isn't their primary/secondary choice.

Yeah, its totally fair when they match a duo bot vs an autofilled support and solo ADC. Autofill is so great.
If autofill didn't exist this would not happen.
The problem with Auto Fill is Riots making a choice for you instead of offering one. If you choose not to participate in Auto Fill from your lobby, you'll wait longer. That's your opportunity cost and should be your decision. If you have a Duo or team depending on the Queue, everyone should be able to individually check whether you're willing. If you want to wait longer to play something you enjoy, that should be your decision.

Auto fill is just disappointing as a whole. Promotion games are bad enough, but being auto filled into a random role just makes it even worse. This is the same problem where they prioritize queue times over matchmaking again.
You cannot auto-fill during your promotion/series already. During your series you are guaranteed one of two of your selected positions.
related question, just made my promos to get out of bronze 5, if you dodge a queue in promos does it count as a loss in the series?
Very curious about this since I know there is a small LP penalty normally for Q dodge.
Riot already made a post saying people in promos are automatically autofill protected.
Or just autofill/support one normal unranked game to guarantee your pick for ranked promos
I feel like this wouldn't work in practice. It should just be removed entirely. But this won't happen until season 8 because I'm sure Riot has done some "metrics" and clearly we as a community largely support autofill...just like we supported DQ. Ya, go rito.
