Why do people still play Devouer/AD Fizz?

Or just AD Fizz in general. Not that I'm complaining, after the occasional cheesy level 2-3 invade, they're basically free money (especially when I'm Tahm jungle, oddly enough). It's always a fun little guessing game when I see Fizz with Smite in the loading screen, will I be against proper AP Fizz jungle or will I get easy money counterganking and invading a devourer Fizz?

Back to my original point though. Do people just not read the patch notes or what? Why do people still do Devourer Fizz?

Cuz if he is seated and have the red smite , he will still FK you up if he is running 40% CDR.

Not really. Both red smite and his W are DoTs. Neither do extra damage with Sated. The only thing I see them build that works with Sated Devourer is BoRK. Anyone can biuld devourer>bork, some champs to much greater effect. Only thing Fizz gets is slipperyness in a skill that does trash damage without AP, which lowers his DPS, making it only useful for running away. What you end up with is a slippery melee champ that either does some damage but is very squishy or a slippery melee champ that isn't squishy but does no damage because they built tanky/bruiser instead of more AD or so.

it's basically a flashy slow/knockup on AS/AD Fizz

Because it is still fun.

I feel that AD Fizz is still very viable, it allows you to build the two damaging items then go tank. Devour and the attack speed from it is really nice for that BOTRK that AD Fizz typically like to build, and with his passive, he is a VERY slippery melee champ. To me, that makes him more of an actual fighter than an assassin. Better in the long, drawn out team fights
