Ahhhh DRAAAVVVEEN

So recently I've found that i enjoy Draven. He's got great early game and even with afk's, i can hold a lane 1v2 (provided the match-up permits sometimes). There's just one problem for me - the late game. This has been talked about and I have found nothing useful. My question is for those Draven mains out there.

HOW do you keep those axes going late game, especially when the "movement prediction" mechanic seems to be null and voidKassadin late game. If I want to catch axes, i get sucked into the enemy team, even if i'm trying to kite and move away from them with my team. It becomes less a fun mechanic and more frustrating late game. If the fight is not in motion, and i can stand in one spot (which in reality, its more like a relatively small circle Garen) i can change a teamfight, but in motion i can't seem to get the axes to follow me once i finish the phantom dancer after BT,IE, and Berserker's greaves. Attack move is more unreliable, as the axes go in every direction but where i want to move.

So to recap, axe mitigation late game with the attack speed.

Yes. That's it. I hope. Help. Please.

Q up two axes before the fight and make sure your team engages right then, Start unloading your Axes onto the nearest person as Draven can melt pretty much anyone. Every single time you catch an Axe press W. Literally every time to keep re positioning and to keep your attack speed up.

Remember if an Axe drops in a bad place and it looks dangerous to grab it, then on't. Just Q up another Axe. this is the reason you have two Q'd up before the fight so if you drop one you can Q another. When you are juggling 2 or 3 axes once you get good at Draven you will learn how to move and attack in a single direction better. For example you will get really good at throwing an axe and moving at the perfect time to manipulate where the axe will land and once you are pro at draven you can do this in different directions with different axes.

So you would throw an Axe and orb walk to the left then just before you catch it as you are throwing your next axe you will orb walk to the right catching your other axe at its edge and you keep doing this in random directions so the enemy team can't predict it.

Another strategy is to throw an Axe and then immediately throw the next axe so they are both in the air then use your W to catch the first one and 90 percent of the time the second one will land in the same area. you just keep doing that over and over again but if you do this your timing has to be good as you can easily miss the first axe if you aren't reacting quickly. My friend is a diamond 1 Draven main and is incredibly good at him.

  1. Practice Orb Walking

  2. Practice spamming W to re postion for Axes

  3. Practice knowing when an axe is bad to grab and it is just better to Q up another

  4. Damage>attack speed on draven. If you are new to draven and aren't totally confident catching his axes then do this build item 3031 item 3006 item 3087 item 3035 item 3072 item 3046 This build is better if you drop a couple axes so your autos are still heavy

Once you get great with Draven and never miss axes do this build. item 3031 item 3006 item 3072 item 3035 item 3078 item 3139 This build will maximize his Q damage and you will one shot their ADC but if you drop axes your DPS goes down a ton as you dont have much attack speed.

Practice catching axes to the point where you feel confident you can use the above build and you will dominate. Good luck

This is great also. I've been going for a damage build. ie-bt-bers greaves then phantom. i generally dont get past that. either i lose or win by then. In your last paragraph before the build explination, ive been trying that, and man... thats tough. It works only about half the time cause my timing isnt right. This is really helpful. thank you!

I think of myself like a sort of eel when trying to catch those axes. I can say a few things, but the number one thing not to do as a decent Draven:

  • Do not attack too close

Draven doesn't have the best range, this can be frustrating when trying to catch escapees. But frankly it's one of the important factors to watch while controlling axes. The time it takes to land the hit is the time you must use to redirect the axe. The only time you should dive in is when you go all in.

Another point to look out for:

  • Do not retreat-kite with Q

Draven's Axe does not help you when you intend to throw hits while you're running. If you play like that you'll see. The Axe lands short to where you'll be.

The reason for this is because it expects you to run around a tiny bit, it won't go too far, even when you need it.

Lastly, I picked this up from Vincent:

  • ** Attack when you hit the spot**

Do this before you fire the second axe, or another attack if it's early game. Your attack flow would be more regulated, and you won't have to worry about catching or losing when it falls to you.

Well, that's what I've found for being a main. Feel free to ask about anything else.

WHAT? DRAVEN'S W IGNORES UNIT COLLISION?!

this is awesome. thank you. the 3rd and 2nd tip have been the easiest to implement. The first, that will just take some experience knowing his limits. Thank you much!

Catching axes is a matter of practice and timing, even late-game.

Main difference, as luck pointed out, is that you need to let your team engage first, so you're behind a wall of protection while throwing axes, so you're not endangering yourself to catch them.

This is so tough. I'm an aggressive player and i get caught out cause i stand too close to their front line xD. The patience to do this will be difficult to acquire lol.
