Have I Been Placed Too High?

Hello all, I have a quick question about provisionals. Yes, I'm sure this has been asked before, but i can't find any good answers.

What I've been wondering is - HOW AM I SILVER V?

I am the guy who loses the game for the team or I'm sitting there praying there's someone capable of carrying. I won 4/10 games in provisionals and i'm silver v? I feel this is wrong and i'm frustrated. I want to get moved down ASAP because it frustrates others and i feel bad i can't make a difference on the team.

If there's any insight, help, wisdom, anything.... that would be awesome. I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and who knows, even throw your two cents.

Just play You will slowly get placed in the division where you belong, and when you are finally good enough to climb, you will start going up in rankings, that's just how it works, sadly there's no other way

He asks whether he got placed too high when he is Silver V. Of course Silver V might seem high for someone who has been Bronze ever since he started playing ranked (like you) but infact Silver V belongs to the bottom 550k players on the NA server (out of 1.7 million players overall). That means 2/3 of all ranked players are higher elo. Check here

that is a steep drop from gold 5 to gold 1. It looks like there are more gold 5 then the rest of gold combined

Yeah there are alot of people who got boosted to Gold V and now can't get higher, or simply people who got lucky early in their season or in their placements and reached Gold from the start. Also some people just play ranked to get the season rewards so once they reach Gold V they don't care anymore.

It doesn't matter if you think silver 5 is low...it is still too high for him. Bottom line. If he is getting shit on every game, then he is right...he is placed too high. Your opinion on how bad silver 5 doesn't help OP in anyway, hence why you got the "how useless is this comment". Please educate yourself before you post things on a public setting, to avoid looking like a dumb dumb.

What are you even talking about? It is not an opinion but a fact that people in Silver V belong to the worst 1/3 of all ranked players on this server. So yes, he has been placed low. Silver V is low, no one thinks it is, but it is a fact.

Are you really too unintelligent to understand this? He asked if he was placed too high. Regardless of how bad you think silver 5 is, it is still too high for him. I fairly disappointed in your reading comprehension skills.

omg, no THE PERSON WHO POSTED THIS thinks that he should be bronze, because of how well (or not) he does in all of his games.

There's no reason to say "you WERE placed low" when he is saying that RELATIVE TO HIS OWN TEAMMATES he does poorly. Why would this post be any different if someone said "I'm in platinum, but don't play well. Am I placed too high?"

Because Platinum is rather high as it is the top 10 percent of all players on each server.

This is really frustrating. You are looking at this post with an entire-server perspective. The OP is only talking about his own experiences, his own ranking, and his own team. Saying that his placement is low is useless because relative to his skill level, it is too high.

So there is a notable difference between Silver V and Bronze? I could understand it if he was placed in high Silver or low Gold but SIlver V is basically the same as bronze. So no, I don't think he got placed too high since its already pretty low.

Okay, thank you. Now I think I finally understand what you mean. It's not just that his placement is pretty low overall, its that the skill range in bronze and low-silver is small and inconsistent, so it doesnt really matter where he got placed in that range.

Ranking is based on last seasons MMR and this seasons provisionals. so if you didn't play ranked last season, your MMR was what Riot considers "neutral" or around Silver 5. If you don't belong there you will get demoted pretty fast.

I would also like to say this helps along with @Blueslifer's comment. This is in fact my first year, well, first 2 months of play. That makes more sense as to why i am where i am.

I was placed in bronze 4, while my unskilled friends whom I was always beating in normals were placed in gold. Seeding sucks.

If you're the reason why people lose games, practice in normals, get your cs up, work on not dying and proper usage of ults and summoners, don't bring the people down who are trying to get higher in elo.

Silver is the best division. They close out games quicker than any division (Don't quote me) All you need to do is play, win lane , roam and win the game.
