Illiaoi HUD suggestion

Can we have whoever is the vessel get marked with the debuff on their head similar to garen's and kindred's thing?

People have a habit of whacking the tentacles and it's hard not to when they can't see if a teammate has the debuff or not.

Thanks.

I think she needs an even bigger change: let tentacles killed within X range of the vessel count no matter who kills them.

It's not a matter of power level or distribution of her power between different abilities (i.e. if they feel they need to offset this with a buff somewhere else that's fine with me), it's about what kind of play is rewarded and punished. If Illaoi is my enemy, I should be rewarded for killing her stuff, not have my teammate start getting pissed off at me for "ksing" a tentacle. Conversely if I am the vessel, I shouldn't be stuck with longer vessel status because my teammates are trying to help me and keep Illaoi from getting too overwhelming a tentacle nest.

League is a team game and having your teammates help you with your problems is how it is supposed to work. Illaoi should be able to appreciate that in lore, IMO, but even if she can't, the actual gameplay of League should be pro-teamwork. Even if Illaoi personally disapproves of having your friends solve your problems, she shouldn't be able to stop it from working.

People SHOULD have the habit of whacking the tentacles when Illaoi is their enemy. They're enemy tentacles! The problem is not that people are hitting the tentacles, it's that hitting enemy tentacles is sometimes obscurely counterproductive.

Better clarity for vessels would probably be good too. But IMO that's a side issue compared to the anti-teamwork mechanic.

Honestly, I don't get why the Vessel status is invisible to allies unless they check the buff bar, and this is coming from someone who plays a TON of her. Although Illaoi still needs buffs to be competitive (One. Don't give vision on tentacle states outside your vision radius (Stay at whatever the last seen state was). If it is being placed in a bush, people get vision of it if they can see Illaoi as it's placed. Now tentacles don't give her position away in the FoW. Whatever other buffs needed can be given after this) this is a rather glaring clarity issue, and we all know how big Riot is on clarity.

Wait, can allies not see them covered in blue or purple when they're vessels? 30+ games as Illaoi and I never knew this.

I thought my teammates were just better than they were.

Or perhaps they should change the way the debuff works so that when 3 tentacles die near the teammate then the debuff goes away?

Yes, I can't tell me how many times this has happened to me!

It's kinda obvious when they are glowing blue all over the place..

Her Q is fine, her W is fine, her spawning tentacles on a passive is fine. I do feel her E needs some change, either to force it so Illaoi is the only one who can damage the target, or change it so the target doesn't have to last hit the three tentacles (as teammates are always exceptionally greedy and will take them regardless, most of the time). Yes, League is a team game, but that ability is flavored out as an individual test, so it should be theirs alone to take it.

Or, if any tentacles spawned this way are killed near the vessel, then it applies as one downed for the vessel. I've played Illaoi and got weird kills crossmap in the fog of war because of it. They're not really satisfying kills, they're just sort of "lol" moments. I was surprised when an Alistar died to it, though.

I agree. It's annoying when you know you're the reason they keep spawning and your teammates rush to kill them. I think that's a big reason as to why she's banned, because people haven't grasped the concept of how her kit works yet.

Or just make them shine blue like they do for Illaoi. Makes sense and would be easier to see. There's already far too many marks that appear above peoples' heads anyway.

Also, teammates killing tentacles should really count towards their ally's trial. That'd eliminate this whole issue. Heck if that makes it useless in teamfights then make it increase with rank or ult rank so it's still useful post-laning.

That, or if a teammate kills a tentacle near you it counts towards the curse.
